ohkay, so i was wondering if you post a story on a site, like buddy4u could you get that story published? like is there a rule or something were that story belongs to like buddy4u or something? i dont know?

Read the site's terms of service. It's very uncommon for a site to require you to give them absolute control over your submissions. Buddy4u doesn't.

Often sites do require in their terms of service that you give them the right to do whatever they want with your content. Submitting content under such an agreement could make it difficult to monetize the content in the future.

would the following count as an example of an ellipsis (word omission, not "...")?

Two of my all-time favorite books include Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and The BFG by Roald Dahl.

the omitted part would be

Two of my all-time favorite books include Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (by Roald Dahl) and The BFG by Roald Dahl.

You're trying too hard. Most sentences are ellipses, but that one is not (or is a bad example of one).

Both of my above two sentences are ellipses, and this one is, too:
-You're trying too hard (to form ellipses).
-[...]but that one is not (an ellipsis)[...]
-[...]this one is (an ellipsis), too

Pick up any book that you have lying around and read the first few sentences. If you can add a few extra words to the start or end of a clause, then it's probably an ellipsis.

No. It won't make it worse, though.

My friend was asking me if she can use her laptop to get on the internet on the highway.
Now keep in mind, we're in Saskatchewan, Canada. I really don't think there is anyway she can get internet on the highway.
Is there?
Thanks

You can get wireless Internet through the mobile phone network, but it's expensive. This kind of wireless Internet works wherever there is cell coverage. In Canada, it is offered by at least Rogers. In the US, it's offered by AT&T, Sprint, and others.

For a laptop, you'll also need to buy a compatible PC card in addition to the (high) monthly fee. Rogers etc. will probably sell you one. This is what jobrolover3725 is talking about.

Kiwee on computer but not in programs so can't get rid of it

Go to start, run. If "run" isn't in your start menu, press WindowsKey+R or find "run" in accessories (under "all programs"). In the "run" box that pops up, type this and press enter:
appwiz.cpl
A window will pop up with a list of programs. Click the program that you want to uninstall and click "uninstall".

If Kiwee isn't in add/remove programs (appwiz.cpl), download it from their site and install it again. Restart your computer, then uninstall it from the start menu or add/remove programs. If that doesn't work, get someone to help you with removing Kiwee from your startup and deleting all Kiwee files.

If you could/can vote
who would/are you voting for?

I'm favoring Obama to win by the way!
What about you? Obama? Or McCain?

Be the way this is just out of curiousity.

Obama. They're both pretty terrible, but I think he's the lesser evil. At least he'll try to get out of Iraq.

I am looking to buy a laptop computer.
I was thinking about getting this one "Aspire AS4520-5675"
Anyone have any reviews for me? I can't seem to find any online.
http://walmart.ca/wps-portal/storelocator/Canada-Electronic.jsp?selection=listingDetails&tabId=1&singledept=null&lang=&assetId=32260&imageId=46204&suggestedItem=&priceType=1&page=null&departmentId=201&categoryId=836
Is the laptop and where I am probably going to buy it.

AND can you compare the laptop above and this one:
http://walmart.ca/wps-portal/storelocator/Canada-Electronic.jsp?selection=listingDetails&tabId=1&singledept=null&lang=&assetId=32481&imageId=46489&suggestedItem=&priceType=1&page=null&departmentId=201&categoryId=836

Which one would be the best for what I want to use it for. School work, and surfing the internet.
THANKS

#1 is much better than #2. #2 won't be able to run Vista well; 1GB of RAM isn't really enough. It more than makes up for the price difference.

If you plan on using Photoshop or other design programs, 1.9GHz is a bit low. Otherwise, #1 will be absolutely fine for what you need it for.

#1:
CPU is dual-core 1.9GHz. Below average, but reasonable.
RAM is 2GB. Good.
Hard drive is 160GB. Good.
Graphics is integrated.

#2:
CPU is single-core 2.13. Very bad.
RAM is 1GB. Bad.
Hard drive is 160GB. Good.
Graphics is integrated.

I bought a router about a month ago, and you would think it'd be installed by now...But sadly, no. Question: I have two computers, one which has high speed dsl, wired. and the other has no internet. How do i get the router to work on both of them? the router model is D-link WBR-1310. Please help, thanks in advance.

I made you a diagram:
http://img374.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dslbk2.png
The wall outlet is connected to the modem by phone line. The modem is connected to the router by ethernet cable. The router is connected to wired computers by ethernet cable. Wireless devices connect to the routers using their wireless adapters.

So to set it up, unplug the ethernet cable from your already-connected computer and put it in the input port on the router. Use an additional ethernet cable to connect the router to any computer that you want connected by wire. You might have to purchase the second+ ethernet cable separately. RadioShack sells them.

You'll then need to enter the D-Link router configuration and give it your PPPoE settings. These can be obtained from your ISP. Click here on a computer that is connected to the router by ethernet to enter your router's configuration:
http://192.168.0.1
It won't work on computers that aren't connected directly to the router. Leave the password field blank.

If you want to use the router's wireless ability, you should also set up wireless in the D-Link router configuration. Use a strong password and WPA (not WEP). Anyone who can access your wireless network is able to spy on your online activities. WEP is easily cracked. A strong password is longer than eight characters, includes at least some numbers, and isn't composed primarily of dictionary words. You should set a password for the router itself, too.

If you want to connect computers to the network wirelessly, those computer must have a wireless adapter and you must have wireless networking set up on your router. Laptops all come with wireless adapters, desktops usually don't.

No software installation is necessary. Any computer connected to the router will be able to access the Internet. It should be configured automatically by your OS.

For further help, contact D-Link. They'll know the most about this.

Good luck!

I just tried to tag one of my photos on myspace and now it says "Stack overflow at line: 0"

The message keeps coming up (I use internet explorer) and I can't tag the photo on firefox either. What do I do?

I agree with The_MoUsY_spell_checker. Something is wrong with their use of javascript. Clearing your cache might possibly help, but since you tried with Firefox also, I doubt it. Only Myspace support can help you with this.

If you use a Myspace application that is active on the picture tagging page, then that application is probably the cause. Try disabling it.

where can I watch the movie "Running On Empty" with River Phoenix online free without downloading anything? I can watch any other movie I want by searching on google, but for some reason this one i cannot find. I'm guessing it might not be as popular. It's also not on iTunes. If someone could give me a DIRECT link to watching the movie, not just a movie website. Because chances are i've already looked on that movie website. Thanks!

**The torrent file must be opened with a bittorrent client such as utorrent or azureus:
http://utorrent.com/
http://azureus.sourceforge.net/
The bittorrent client will then proceed to download the actual file.

You can also use bitlet or torrentrelay if you don't want to install a client:
http://bitlet.org
http://torrentrelay.com

This is the torrent metafile URL (for bitlet):
dl.btjunkie.org/torrent/running-on-empty-DiVX-DVD-rip-avi/4324a38a6e9d1e51e77723368291753b058012d174b8/download.torrent
You might have to add http:// to the front.
**

You won't find a streaming web version of that movie. It's too obscure.

You could obtain it if you were willing to download it. There's an active torrent available here:

Let's just say I want to scan a CD.
Will it damage it in any way?

No, it won't. Unlike floppy disks, CDs aren't damaged by magnets. And most scanners use the same technology as digital cameras, so there's nothing to worry about.

does anyone know how to get rid of pop-ups, like actually permanently? I don't even know how I got them, but EVERY SINGLE time i change the page on the internet a million new things pop up. and also when i am on google this side column thing called 'shopper reports' pop ups and i always exit out but it never leaves. and when i click on internet explorer a message pops up saying internet explorer cannot work and i have to click okay, then it happens 3 times and then it FINALLY lets me on my homepage(google) and then another message pops up'internet explorer cannot dispaly this webpage' then i have to exit out AGAIN and try AGAIN and sometimes it finally works. but other times it takes me to 'internet explorer cannot display this webapge' even if i have perfect internet connection and i typed in the right address. so then i ahve to click back and sometimes it works. but for example, now it won't let me get on facebook at all. this is ruining my computer! can someone please tell me easy directions of what to do to make all of these things go away/stop happening? thanks!

Follow my guide here:

If resetting IE doesn't work, then do the rest of that guide, too.

Do those sites that pay you to take surveys or data entry really work? Which ones are legit? I know a lot of them require like a $60 sign-up fee. But what is the catch? Thanks!

You don't make very much money with them. The survey company makes much more money then they give you.

Cashcrate pays you to sign up for offers such as those surveys. It's a nice combo.
http://cashcrate.com/371956
Cashcrate will tell you what the cost of each offer is, so you'll easily be able to tell whether an offer is worth it. Many offers spam you, though, so I recommend you use a spamgourmet email:

How are we supposed to pay our debts with this economic crisis? Finances are getting tight and it's getting harder to pay our bills. The government will bail out business but what about the American people? If these businesses fall, like WaMu and Wachovia, what about people that have loans with them? Why are we paying back our debts to them if they no longer exist?

Worry about the necessities of life first, then do your best to pay your bills. If you can't pay them, then don't. If enough people end up in the same situation, the government will be forced to help you.

I expect this recession to last 1-2 years at most. The proposed bailout was defeated in the House, which is good. It would have destroyed our economy, and extended the recession.

The companies you pay your debt to still exist. They will soon be owned by other companies, and you will be paying them. No action should be required on your end.

I have to summarize this article and the words in this paragraph are so clean and tight that I can't re-word it:

Escorted by Reconnaissance Squadron (commanded by Major Pierre Huet), we drove from the forward operating base near Spin Boldak to the District Joint Co-ordination Centre, a convenient location for potential patients that was made available to us by the District Leader of Spin Boldak. With a platoon of infantry for perimeter security and two full medical teams (one male, one female), our clinic offered care to more than 260 patients, both children and adults, in six intense hours of clinical work.

:(

When writing a summary of text this length, the aim is to highlight the important information in a sentence or two. You're not supposed to just change words around in the paragraph, that is wrong.

This is what I would write:
"After traveling to the District Join co-ordination Centre, the narrator's clinic cared for more than 260 patients over a six-hour period."

I bought a new laptop at the start of the year which has windows vista.
How do I make all my files private so no other users can view my files?

Thankyou

**If you have a version of Windows Vista that supports encryption (home versions don't), the built-in encryption will prevent anyone from opening files that you have encrypted. You can't make all of your files automatically become encrypted, though, so it's not a replacement for private files. The file names are also visible to administrators, unlike with private files.

The best replacement for private files is TrueCrypt:
http://truecrypt.org
It will create a file on your system that can be mounted as a drive. When mounted, you can put files into it like a regular drive. When unmounted, the files are not accessible. It's impossible to even tell with certainty that a TrueCrypt file is a TrueCrypt file. Contact me if you have trouble setting it up.**

You can't. Standard users can only see their own files, and admins can see everyone's files, even those of other admins. This has been changed since XP because Microsoft wants everyone to use Standard user accounts. There's no way to make files private like in XP.

''Farmers often plough leguminous plants into the soil. Why is this a good thing to do''

This is a question and I have to be able to answer it fully in class. There's other questions too, but I found the answers to those. I did research but I couldn't find anything about this.
Can anyone please help?

Thank you in advance!

Legumes (peanuts, beans, alfalfa, etc.) fix nitrogen in the soil. Most plants need fixed nitrogen to grow. It's necessary for farmers to grow legumes every few years because other plants consume all of the fixed nitrogen.
