Okay, so in a few weeks I'm moving to my Dad's house, and he honestly doesn't cook.
So I'll need to be learning how to make basic dishes for some nights. I've never cooked in my life (I only took cooking class once, I cooked once and skipped for the rest of the semester) I can't even boil an egg.
What are some simple dishes to cook so I can practise between now and the time I move there? It doesn't have to be stuff made straight from home, it can be packaged stuff, I just don't want real basic stuff like 2 minute noodles or anything you add water to and microwave. (link)

Hamburger Helpers/Chicken/Tuna Helpers might be recommended. Any instructions are clearly listed and quite easy to follow. Making some dishes like spaghetti can be easy and if neither of you are particularly picky on seasonings and the such then it's SUPER easy.
Spaghetti:
1. Boil noodles approx. 12 minutes. You may add salt or Olive oil here. Not too much.
2. Buy a jar of sauce.
3. If you are into beef then cook it on a medium heat until thoroughly Brown. No pink. Drain grease.
4. Pour sauce over beef.
Tips on sauce: add a little sugar, try cooking it on a low simmer for 30mins-1hour with a small chopped onion and garlic in it.
Alfredo:
1. Boil fettuccine noodles approx 12.
2. Buy jar alfredo sauce.
3. Chicken can be cooked here in butter or Olive Oil. You may season with simple salt and pepper to begin.
4. Peas or a mixture of broccoli (mushrooms too) type veggies are great in alfredo dishes. Cook those appropriately.
5. Either cube chicken into 1 inch pieces or slices thinly. Cook very thoroughly.
6. Mix sauce with the optional veggies and chicken all together. Then serve on top of pasta.
TIP: Add Parmesan cheese to the alfredo sauce for a richer flavor. Try also adding garlic salt/powder or fresh garlic to the sauce. Delicioso!

I'm starting college at Marshall University (a mid-sized university in West Virginia, where I live) a week from today. I've been to the campus a bunch of times and know my way around, and I know the professors won't baby you and make you do your work like high school teachers do. I'm jsut wondering what classes are like. How are they setup? DO they give out handouts? Is there homework, besides studying?
Also, what kind of school supplies should I get? For high school, I got 1" binders for each class and put looseleaf or a 3- or 5- subject notebook in them. Should I follow this same method for college? I'm taking 16 hours, which is five classes and an "Introduction to the University" class, which only lasts 8 weeks. (link)
|
Word of the wise: Just because the professor doesn't "force" you to come to class or do your work, does not mean that it won't bite you in the ass! Usually at the first day of class the prof. will give you a Syllabus. Any textbooks or other recommended materials will be on there. But otherwise, you are independent now. It is up to you to ultimately decide what you need. If they don't say anything, but they say you will be taking a lot of notes...well, then you might want to think about getting a larger notebook, highlighters, etc. I'd recommend just taking the classes for a week and THEN deciding what you feel is best. Maybe one prof. gives you tons of handouts. Well then a hole-puncher and binder might be well advised! =D Happy school year to you. :D

why do people get offended if someone says something like, "oh my god!" or "jesus christ!" ? this question has always bugged me. i know it has something to do with "not using the lords name in vain" or something? but i dont get that either? cheeers:) (link)
|
Missa8305 answered your question beautifully! I just wanted to say my own spot on it though. Saying certain phrases like "oh my God" in the company of Christians or other religions can be considered to them, offensive. Personally, I believe in free will and freedom of speech so I would say...say what you will...to the point that you think it is necessary. If you do not wish to unnecessarily insult someone you might want to refrain from voicing the "blasphemes". I don't. It is naturally, ultimately you who decides what you should say. If you aren't Christian or even Jewish perhaps you really shouldn't worry about it at all. :D

Ok.. I'm 13.. And i made a promise to God that i was going to stay a virgin until marriage... But i think about sex sometimes.. I never think about doing it, just.. you know... But does that make me a bad Christian? Its hard to not think about it when people my age are already losing their virginity... I don't want to be like that... It's wrong.. People my age are always joking about it and saying when they're 16 they are gonna lose theirs and stuff... But I think this is wrong... Also, what is all of the meaning behind a purity ring and how can i get one? Also, what is masturbation? I think anything about sex is wrong... Not just intercourse like some people... I am not going any farther than kissing... And i don't want to have thoughts or anything.. But i need to know what masturbation is. Thnx!!! (link)

I agree with "WittyUserNameHere." Did I spell that right? Ha. Anyways, thinking of sex is surely not a bad thing. It is a natural part of life. It is in us as animals to want to procreate(have sex) so it is only natural to think about. I hope you do not think sex is bad, especially if someone just told you that. Sex is a part of life, it would be wiser (in my opinion only) to learn all you can about it--which does not entail practicing it--so that way you are knowledgeable about it. Perhaps if you know more about it then your opinions on it can be more well rounded and fair. :) Masturbation is self pleasuring yourself. I could get detailed here, but for etiquette reasons I won't. Write me if you want a clean, but more thorough review. :D

I need a list of healthy things that I can eat for lunch so I can make a plan on the calendar for my school year.
My nutrition used to be at the top and now it's messed up from high shcool and it just pushes things. With a plan it will help me decide what to buy or not to buy in the cafeteria and what easy things I can make or pakc at home to bring.
=] thanks! (link)

A healthy sandwich using a whole grain, wheat bread. Not the soft wheats with High Fructose Corn Syrup either, the real stuff (it is heavier). A yogurt and fruit is great. A banana is easy to carry, or a pre-cut orange, some bottled water. Maybe wheat thins as a snack. OR. Make a healthy dinner with enough leftovers to take to school, so that way you aren't eating a cold meal all the time. Happy Food Hunting. :D

Me and my boyfriend were "trying out" sex, as we were both virgins and we've talked about it for awhile. I went on top and he went in about half an inch and then pulled out because I was scared. We tried again today, except he went just a SMIDGEN further, and it felt like something was breaking, so I told him to stop, so he did. I felt fine after that up until an hour ago when I peed and it started to hurt. Now it's totally fine, but it hurt a lot when I peed.
Also, we did that without condoms and I missed a pill three days ago, but took it the next day with my other one. I could be pregnant right?

I've had personal experience with pain while urinating after sex. No big deal. I'm almost positive what it is, is that when you had sex your vagina was stretched open from the penis. While you pee, some of it is bound to touch your freshly sore, most likely reddened vagina. No worries :D. It is just sore from use. If however you have constant, REAL pain while peeing that borders excruciating and can lead to blood in the urine then it is a urinary tract infection and is a must-see doctor visit. Take your time with your b.f girl. : ) A lot of time teenage sex is all about the boy because neither knows better. Try to make sure you get in some orgasms too! :D good luck to you.

ew ok so my hair is gross with split ends and i want them to go away with out having to cut all of my hair so is there a really good product or house hold w.e to really get my hair back to health ? (link)
|
A split end is a dead end of hair. Just having a professional snip a half an inch will not hurt and it will allow your hair to look much better and probably grow better as well.

slicing and dicing, she cuts deeper and deeper,
just one drop of blood will make her happy.
Crying and shaking, she raises the knife,
wishing for the courage to take her own life.
Pushing harder on the blade, trying to die,
she often just sits and wonders why;
Why are people so selfish and hating,
nobody knows the pain she suffers through.
She just wants love, why don't they understand this?,
Crying and trying to die once again,
all she really needs is one caring friend.
Depressed all the time for reasons unknown to herself,
wishing all the pain would just go disappear.
No courage to actually kill herself,
just cutting makes her feel better.
Wishing she could die, not knowing why,
just wanting love and companionship.
Crying and shaking, she raises the knife,
wishing for the courage to take her own life...

I'm a writer not a poet. But we aren't so far apart either. Besides the incredibly depressing topic, it was rather nice. The rhyme was consistent and actually pleasant. I enjoyed the flow of it. Too depressing though, it's almost unoriginal. As a working student/writer I would recommend writing something else from your heart that isn't so unpleasant. Things do not have to be shocking to be attention grabbing. They don't even have to be super happy either. If you were pushing for drama then ease up and be yourself. I know I put some criticisms in there, but they are just constructive recommendations. And hey, if you write anything else that isn't emo-death, send it to me. I'd be happy to read it.

I already have a few ideas of my own, but what are some other good idea's that any of you can think of for a ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY :)? (link)
|
This question is somewhat hard to answer because it all has to do with what you and your partner like. A special dinner might be nice, homecooked could be very romantic. Some sort of activity that you and your partner don't normally do. Maybe you've never been to a play together, that sort of thing. And of course, this might depend on what kind of relationship you have but...some new sexcapades? :D A long night of passion, wine...and maybe a movie. But as I suggested earlier, I don't know what you like.
|
what does it mean when people say "thats what she said" (link)
|
Everyone's right! It's just a sexual innuendo. "Insert rod A into slot B."
"That's what she said."
|
how do you pronounce disgusting" disGusting or disCusting?
i hear lotsa ppl say disCusting!?! (link)
|
As a linguistics minor I would say that what happens when people say the word disgusting is this...Consonant Cluster Reduction. Which basically means that there is two consonants which is naturally hard to pronounce both! Therefore, when we speak the word we accent either one of the consonants to make it easier to say. It is much harder to truly say dis-gus-ting. You really can't say it fast if you try to accent the G. I say discusting. There is nothing wrong with that either. On a side not, it might not be consonant cluster reduction it might be called something else...in which my mind is evading the right answer. Either way, it is natural to say it either way. It is not more correct to pronounce it as DisGustIng. :D

How do you stop pretending that you're happy all the time? Because I really just can't. (link)
|
This is just an opinion, but it seems that the American culture's perogitive is to be HAPPYHAPPPYHAPPYHAPPY!! Well. I say, be yourself. If that means you don't smile constantly, or agree to everyone's whims all the time, then so be it. It will not be then end of the universe. Time will not unravel. Atoms will not explode. Be happy with yourself, be proud of who you are. However, I don't think it would be wise to go around being rude or vishous to others just because you are not happy. But, maybe you can find a medium in which you are happy and that level of happiness is just not what others want of you. Be happy on your own (in your own way). ;)

so im turning 18 next month, and i want to find something FUN to do. after the 10 year old little birthday parties passed, all i've ever done is go out to dinner with the family and maybe a friend or two, but never anything really exciting, even for my 16th. i cant go all out and extravagent because we're not loaded, but i want it to be memorable. so far im thinkin about going to the Hard Rock Cafe for dinner with the family/friends and maybe getting a hotel room in Atlanta for the night with my friends, but i dont know what after that? i'd LOVE to go to a club, but only like 2 of my friends are goin to be old enough to get in with me. its still an option, but yeah. ughh gosh. any ideas? (link)
|
Maybe going to a pool hall could be fun. I also happen to know, as silly as it sounds, that something as simple as put-put golf can be fun and hilarious when you're with a group of friends. Maybe save the club for another time. It might not be wise to let your friends get fake ids just to go to a club. They might call the cops to come intimidate them. Plus, most people in clubs are older than you. You might end up just feeling...weird. Movies, minigolf, pool, swimming if it's warm enough can all be a hilarious time. I hope you have a happy birthday. :)

I don't noe if I have a yeast infection(embarassing). How do I know I do? And how would i tell my mum? (link)
|
A yeast infection will smell...like yeast. A discharge will be present usually really thick. Don't be confused though, a normal discharge could be the same. I "think" that with a yeast infection it is generally described as being chunky like cottage cheese. I personally have never had one, but I do know certain things can cause them. They are common in women who are pregnant and also, so I've heard, if you wear tight, thick underwear that does not allow the vagina to breathe! It needs air. The proper underwear to wear is a thin cotton material. If you still aren't sure, I would go to your local pharmacy and ask the pharmacist, they should be able to help you free of charge! That's what they are there for. :D

heyyy ok i have natural curly & kinda frizzy hair. i get soooo many compliments on it because the curls are so perfect and stuff..but i still like to straighten it. soo i have this ceramic straighter that i bought for 80$ and it takes me like an hour to do my hair perfectly straight..but then wen i go out it gets kinda wavy at the bottom and it gets a little puffier.i HATE wen that happens.what shouuld i do to prevent this? should i put any creams, sprays, or anything before or after i straighthen?thanKs SO much for the hlep!! (link)
|
You should be proud of your lovely, curly hair. Men love it. :) The ironed out straight hair is just a fad the country is going through. Frizzy is not bad at all. It can be quite sexy, plus there are products (the good ones are usually semi-expensive) that can help tame the frizz and leave a beautiful curl.

In a few days I'll be a freshman and we're required to attend a meeting/speech/whatev thingy called Convocation. It is our "first formal college event." My question is do I have to dress up? What am I supposed to wear? It doesn't say that, but I was just wondering. (link)
|
I hope I have answered in time for you convocation. Just to let you know, when I went to mine a few years ago it was no big deal. Most everyone was in FLIP FLOPS! Unless you attend some snooty college or private school perhaps, then really...there is no dress code, but that of the school. Hell, my convocation was optional anyways. It's silly and unnecessary. Be strong, school will be fine for you.

My right thigh muscle hurts..a lot. When I lay down, when I walk, when I'm sitting, whenever I move basically. I'm not sure whats wrong with it.
http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/ii68/xocrystalox99/massage-therapy-point-thigh-knees.jpg
Theres a picture to show you where it hurts on my thigh whenever I do anything. Also, sometimes when I walk I kind of just.. stop..not because I want to, just because my leg doesnt move much and then I end up like tripping because of it. Any idea what this is?
Thank You. (link)
|
How long has this been occurring? Firstly, I would suggest really stretching the muscle everyday, a few times a day and drinking protein shakes. The shakes have helped me with muscle soreness. If you read on the package it will say so. Of course, I can't guarantee it would work, but it might be worth a try.

i don't know what it is... i've tried virtually everything .... went to a counselor and all....
but yeah i am not sure what is wrong with me......... i am having difficulties describing what i am feeling... depression anxiety fear paranoia panic loneliness claustrophobia phobia of being alone! i don't know i am mixed up! its all together... please can anyone help? (link)
|
Perhaps if you are feeling things kinds of serious issue it might be smart to continue seeing a counselor and just talk to them. They are a professional after all, or at least they should be! From a logical stand point, I would simply recommend performing tasks that might help to release endorphins that make people happy. 1. Exercise 2. Chocolate. Seriously. Trying a new hobby. Trying writing a story or poetry or reading a new kind of book, pick several days a week to do a vigorous workout program. Something that will make you sweat will surely take your mind off of problems. Exercise = endorphins which can help to make you happier. If you are lonely and do not have enough friends then perhaps finding a club, whether online or in your community, of any kind to join could be good. So that way you can meet people with your own interests.

I would like to tone my upper arms. Biceps. I'm a girl so I dont want them muscley, just toned. any good workouts? weights? ...anything thats helped you? (link)
|
Use weights. If you don't want to really gain a lot of muscle mass then don't use a heavy weight, just use one with enough resistance to really feel it. Perhaps 5 or 8lbs. Check online and you'll be able to find tricep, shoulder, and bicep muscles. Since you'll be using a lighter weight it might be good to do more reps also.
