After you enter the office and fill out some paper work they will eventually lead you to another room where you will take a piss test (to see if you are pregnant) and they will weigh you and ask questions.
After the test is done you will eventually be escorted to the patients room where you will have a special gown to put on. It's kind of complicated there's a blanket piece which is to "sort of" cover you vagina while you sit on the table and the top is like an open jacket.
When the doctor comes in he/she might chat a little and will guide you through what you are abou tot do. They always tell you what they are using and where they are putting it before they do.
Feet generally go in stirrups and they will open your legs. Don't bother with modesty...these docs have seen soooo many vaginas--yours is not different. ANYWHO! They wear gloves and will usually insert two fingers in with a lubrication to feel around.
An instrument (forceps? I forget the name)will be pushed into the vagina and the doctor will use a tool to scrape your cervix for cells to test for cancer. This ist he part that can hurt. I do guarantee it only hurts the first time and next year you won't feel it. It kind of hurts but does go away rather fast.
After that comes the breast testing. You will raise your arms above your head and the doc will feel AROUND the nipple (not touching it) for lumps or cancer or other bad things.
Then you are done and set! You get dressed , get the prescription for you pills and are outta there!!
GL, don't worry too much. They know it's your first time!! XD

If Krishna is black, (black/the dark one, usually painted with dark blue or black skin, made from a black hair) why then does he support the mistreatment and opression of the sudras (blacks in india)? I know the rig veda is supposed to be one of the oldest books of hinduism, but there are many verses that support the killing of black/dark skinned people...i understand that this may have been a part of their culture at the time...but if krishna came out of this...and he is black, why would he hate or think low of his own kind? There are scriptures in some books that say killing on of the sudras is nothing more than killing a little bird or a frog...How can a religion that promotes enlightenment and peace with people, promote the opression and disrespect of another race? Would someone with some real facts and experience please explain this to me. I came accross this info in my studies of buddhism and the history of india and things like that...Thank you. (link)

I'm not sure, but I would think that just because he is portrayed as a certain color does not mean he really looked like that. Jesus is usually portrayed as white yet he was a Jew in Israel, which would positively make him darker skinned.
I have the Bhagavadgita although I have not read it yet, so I am not sure about what the passages say and to what context they are in, but I don't think they are meaning to oppress any dark skinned peoples. I have studied Hinduism, it was only one class, but I have never heard of such a thing. It's a beautiful religion I think.
So the Sudras were darker skinned and were discriminated against? I know his name means the dark skinned one or the dark blue one or something. I'm sure I haven't helped you. I hope you can figure this out. Good luck!

No, maybe fat isn't the BEST word. Obese is more like it. I'm 19 years old and I probably weigh close to 340 pounds. I have been obese for about 10 years now? No maybe less than that. It has to be less than that. Anyway, I'm getting off track.
I have always thought that because I'm so fat that I will never get a guy, however it was just a passing thought that would always return so I never was bothered by it, until the past couple of years. My self-image is so poor that when I walk into a building and I see my reflection though the glass I have to look away from it quickly so I won't see myself. Each time I look at myself I feel this wave of disgust, shame, and fear.
There is not a darn good thing about myself I find like able at all. Even my personality is called into question because while I view myself as a good person, I find that my faults (such as my Irish temper & obesity) will conquer over any good will I have. I feel so scared that I won't ever find a man who will find me attractive in anyway at all that I will never marry and have a family, like I want to.
I feel ashamed of myself so much that I refuse to apply to work at a near by clothing store because they won't hire a fat girl that can't even fit into the clothes they sell. Also, I'm even starting to have trouble finding clothes my size at Wal-mart. My grandfather who is a WW2 vet never says a thing about my weight, and yet in my mind I think that he deserves a better granddaughter who is pretty than I am.
I don't know, my mom constantly tells me I need to lose weight but for me I just can't stop myself from eating. Oh I notice when I'm over eating but I just can't stop until I'm full. My brother who is younger than me is only a few pounds short of being considered a healthy weight for his age group won't stop insulting me by calling me a fat a**, fat w***e, you know all those good names.
My self-esteem is so poor that if I do meet a guy that might hold real interest in my personality that I will never be able to trust him on his word because I will always assume that he's just saying it to be nice and polite.
Anyway what a pity rant I threw out into this wonderful Advicenators section. I just wanted to know if anyone had any tips for an obese woman to lose weight, right now I'm trying to convince my family to eat at home as much as possible since take-out isn't a good idea. Any exercises that would help me lose weight would be great.
I have no idea how to boost my self-esteem since all I want to do is hide in my room. If anyone knows what to do regarding that, it would be helpful...
Sorry for typing so much but I can't sleep and I have class in a few hours so I was hoping this might calm me down and help me to rest.
Thank you to anyone who answers. (link)

Some simply diet changes can go a LONG way. You will have to work hard to change the habit, but once you do then you'll be happier and proud of yourself for not eating that stuff.
1. no SODA. No sugary drinks. Stick to juices, water, and teas that have low sugar. There is so much sugar in soda and if you are a soda drinker then cutting out that (depending on how much you ingest) will make a huge difference. There is like 41g of sugar in a can of coke, that is like 8 or 9 tablespoons! If you are drinking soda, stop! That will cut down automatically on your sugar intake.
2. Get exercise videos. They can be rented at the library or of course bought. You can set these up in a room in your home. It can be embarrassing to work out in public, I understand that. So at home perform a video. You can do it! Determination, perseverance, and persistance are incredibly strong motivators.
3. Write down exercises to do. Write on a post-it "Everday do 50 sit-ups". You don't have to do them all at once. Put that paper on your wall and DO IT! =D
4. No take out. Home cooked food is the best. Try not to add salt to your diet, too much sodium is bad.
5. No junk junky junk food. This will be hard if you are a binge eater. DETERMINATION! You can do it. I can tell. If you are willing to take the steps to ask for help, then you are ready to drop the weight. When you snack eat a healthy (good tasting) Wheat Thin instead of a chip. Eat a low-fat yogurt. They are quite good. =D Make fruit shakes and let that be your Meal. Fill it with whey protein powder and fruits, a skim milk.
6. The key to LOSING weight is to Burn off more calories then you take in. If you are taking in 3000 calories but not burning off any then you will stay the same weight.
If you take in 3000 calories/day and burn off 500-600 then that is a pound off a week. And of course, if you eat more calories then you burn off you gain weight.
7. Calorie counting can be quite tedious, but is very effectual. If you know that that frozen pizza has 498calories (it says so, Real all labels) then don't do it! Cut the calories!
--Avoid high sugar foods. Cakes, Ice Creams, etc.
--Avoid sodas
--Get work out videos and DO IT! =D
--Drink water
--Watch those calories. Burn them yourself and lose that weight so that you can let yourself feel beautiful. =) And of course, maybe spit on your brother for being an ass. Pardon the language. Good luck to you. Kick the weights ass. You control your body, NOT the other way around.

i wanna give my boyfriend a hickey but i don't know if he'd be okay with it, i dont wanna ask him thats awkward...so my question is how do i give a hickey and do most guys like it? thankss (link)
|
I've been in a relationship for five years so I have long since given up "giving a hickey" pr even getting one.
I think how it is done, to my recollection, is from sucking on the skin. By doing that is brings blood to the surface and pretty much "bruises" the skin? I could be argued on this, but that's what I think. I'd simply ask him.
Back when I was in HS guys would be proud to have a hickey, cause at least they were getting action. It was almost something to be proud of. Which is ridiculous now, but...
The neck is usually the place for hickies or a breast I think. Although I doubt you would want your mouth on HIS breast. Hahahaha. Hilarious. A little nibbling/biting/sucking = hickey!
Happy Hickey Making!

im a senior in highschool. in one of my classes we get half the class to read a book of our choice, and any words we dont know, we write down on notecards as vocab. we have to get 20 a week. i've been reading the perks of being a wallflower, because i heard it was really good, but theres been like 5 words i dont know and im on page 100. its soo easy. does anyone have suggestions for a good book? it doenst necessarily have to be difficult or on a 12th grade reading level, but i just need to be able to find words every so often.
i love books that deal with teenage life. all the drama with school, boys, friends, sex, partying, you know. like the movie thirteen.. if that were a book, i would love it.
any suggestions? something you've PERSONALLY read and loved. preferably not one thats HUGE either. (link)
|
Tale of Two Cities, Dean Koontz novels tend to use some new vocabulary (Bougainvillea for example!) as well as perhaps Michael Crichton? He wrote Jurassic Park, etc. There's dinosaur terms, spanish words, and others.
Pride and Prejudice or I suppose then any of the Jane Austen novels will most likely have words you'd have to look up.
I think Tom Clancy and his military/political/presidential novels use a lot of that particular kind of political jargon. So that might be good.
=D For a non-fiction piece I would recommend The Language Instinct by Steven Pinker. It's a very easy read actually, the writer is funny and presents the subject matter in a very interesting and easy to read way. Yet since the book is about Language, you will be bound to find terms/words you don't recognize.
Good luck,

i want to boost my energy for school because last year i was very drained (maybe it's because i rarely stopped at my locker and i was carrying an extra 30 pounds on my back all day!). i am eating fruit salad everyday with grapes, mango, blueberries, and strawberries and it's helping a bit.
(1) although i haven't started school yet, what can i eat in the morning, during lunch, and right after school to give me a quick burst of energy without making me crash?
(2) are there any energy supplements i can take that work or any other suggestions?
(3) should i go to my doctor & ask them what's best for me? that might be a little awkward cause i go to the doctor every few months cause i get frequent stomach viruses...
i did get enough sleep but most days i was so tired i'd finish my homework and sleep for 3-4 hours, wake up for dinner, and go back to sleep until the next morning. i really want to avoid that this year.
i also heard that exercise helps boost energy, but i tried doing that last year and it would make me even MORE tired and all i wanted to do was sleep! i can't exercise in the morning because i don't have enough time to exercise, then shower & get ready all before school unless i wake up at 4 am.
(4) so if i do exercise, won't it make me more drained? or should i start out slow and easy first and either keep it that way or build it up slowly?
(5) is gym alone adequate exercise for a girl like me? (i'm 15.f. 5'3" 115 lb, so i'm pretty happy with my body and i don't want to lose weight / get MUSCLE-Y!)
(5) i have an elliptical, but what sorts of exercises can i do do boost my energy?
thank you so much. (link)

My advise would be to try coffee in the morning or even tea. Tea has much less caffeine in it, but it does have enough low amounts that could help with your energy.
Buying a whey protein powder and making shakes with it I think will help. I usually just have one for breakfast or lunch, or after a workout and they are loaded with protein and vitamins--those of which seem to keep my energy levels high! I also add fresh fruit into the shakes so they even taste really good.So if you want to try something new, I'd try the caffeine and/or protein.
I hope you find something good for you.

So I have a lot of poems, and I want to get them put into a book. Not a published book but just a nice book that I can keep for myself. Any ideas where I can get one/make one? :] (link)
|
Well, what I would do is make a compact manuscript of them all. So if you have 150pages of poems then print that off.
http://www.scaruffi.com/uprint.html There are places online, like in this link, where you can send them your story/poems,etc and they will print it into a book for you. You have to pay of course. I'm not sure how trustworthy those sites are but...
I'm thinking what you need to look into is book binding. http://www.lulu.com/en/products/paperback/?gclid=CNKSgar9sJUCFRZjnAodPTj3kA Well, those are the only ideas I have. Happy Book Making to you!

Since 6th grade, i wore a cover up to cover my problem of excessive hair pulling. Well, i have finally gotten over it and now ive been cover up free for about the whole summer. Well, im really nervous to go back to school, i have pictures of me on myspace (etc) of the new me. Idk if everyone has seen them, But alot of people commented them. I am extreamly nervous to walk into school. And im usually the girl who doesn't care what people think, say, or if they stare at me. I'm just really scared that people will stare at me when i walk through the main hallway.. its where EVERYONE hangs out in the morning till the bell rings. My question is: What can i do to just not think about what they will be thinking, looking at, etc? I really just want to act as if i was before, but its kinda hard because im a new me, with hair. please help (link)
|
Does your hair look better now that it's there? If so, then I say you have nothing to worry about. If they do look at it then they are just noticing that it is different than it used to be.
If you know of an honest friend then you could just ask them, casually, what they think of your hair. The first few days of school will be stressful for you, but I'm sure after a week goes by you will relax! =D Time will help you to ease into this. Be strong!

I know it may be too early to worry about my future, but I figure why not start worrying now? ;]
Anyway- here's my "dilemma". I'm planning on pursuing a career in the medical field, most likely something cardiac related. I'm worried about being able to pay off the cost of college and medical school. Is it true that you start making money during residency? If not, when do you start making money, and usually how much do you make starting off?
If you are a doctor or you know someone in your family who is a doctor, how long did it take them to start working in their specialized job, as in, how long was it before they became a brain surgeon, podiatrist, cardiologist, or any other profession? How does that work?
Is going into the medical field really rewarding or is it extremely stressful?
Thank you for any responses =]. (link)
|
I don't know about the medical stuff, but I am familiar with student loans.
As long as you accept student loans as it is subsidized. Unsubsidized would mean that you will immediately start repaying your loans as you accept them. With a subsidized loan you will begin payments 6 months after you graduate by way of a monthly payment.

Hey guys, I'm F/17 5'4 and I have big thighs. It really bugs me bc it makes me wear a bigger pant size, but then the pants are to long and to big in my waist. In skirts and shorts I wear a 5-6. But with pants its a 7-8 and they are big on me but my legs but they are still kinda tight on m legs, if I would go any bigger I would need plat forms!!.
So what are some things I can do to make my legs smaller.
I'm in tooons of sports, gymnastics, cheerleading, basketball, track, could that be it??
But Wouldn't squats make my legs even bigger? any help?? THANKS!! (link)
|
Lots of stairs and walking/running? Honestly some people just have "large thighs" so I'm not sure how much of the mass you'll actually be able to lose. I say be proud of your thighs. What I would do though is keep buying the pants that best fit your body (the 7-8) and just have them altered. There are people everywhere who can do clothes alterations and it can be quite cheap to have some jean taken out in your waist and wherever else. Which will leave you in a very nice fitting jean. =D

i am just starting college and majoring in criminal justice. my friend is majoring in dental hyginest i believe and she just got a job at a dental office. so where could i do the same? other then a court house? (link)

I would think maybe a law office might work. I think lawyers get interns, but I could be wrong.

17 f..
usually whenever i was with a bf.. making out would make me extremely excited.. making me real lubricated.. and i found this a big problem.. it started fading and now its to the point where we makeout and im still not lubricated but yes excited.. whats the deal? any tips on how TO take it to the lubrication point? thanks in advance! (link)
|
If you by chance just started taking a birth control pill then that can affect your lubrication. So that could be the issue, although if that is the case then I would not recommend stopping the pill. If the pill is not the case then you might just need a different kind of stimulation. Perhaps try new things and see if that works? And also try not to think about your body not getting wet, think on terms of...I am getting wet! Sometimes we just need to tell our brain what we want.

When people go clubbing, what exactly do they do? Is it the same thing as going to a bar, except no alcohol? Do the still serve drinks? Please be as descriptive as possible. (link)
|
The clubs I've been in all required you to be 21 and older. There's always a bar, incredibly crowded (good luck getting your tab paid), people who have drank way too much and haven't stopped and a lot of techno music. =) Cover charge, of course.
|
Well i go out alot and i usually go with a guy..
but for some reason i usually always end up paying for the guy and myself.. and i don't mind sometimes but all the time..? or just myself ..
i geuss it depends on the guy i choose but you as a girls.. does your man or "guy friend" pay for you or you pay for yourself? (link)
|
A man should pay for the date unless it is negotiated otherwise. It is supposed to be him feeding YOU and if you're paying for the food...well, you might as well have gone out and killed the chicken, made the noodles from scratch and cooked your own dinner. Splitting the bill is for friends, not someone who wants you. He is probably broke and unemployed. The date should pay and unless he is low on the IQ level, he knooows this. It is etiquette.

Ok, so really everyone does weed at least once in their life. Even if it's just a hit. I smoke weed, not alot but enough. But theres this girl who is best friends with one of my like really good friends, and she hates me cause i smoke weed, but it's my life. I dont make other people smoke or anything. She just hates me. Idk what to say to her now, i wanna talk to her but i dont wanna make her hate me even more. What should i do? (link)
|
I was actually surprised by all the responses to this question. So! Another perspective! Why want a friendship with someone just because she hates you? When I read your post my first inclination was to say...well obviously she can't accept you, then you don't need her. She is hardly a friend and if she hates you then why bother wit her. The weed thing is mostly likely a phase, I hope it is for you. Take my word for, those friends of mine back in HS days who smoked pot and DIDN'T stop went into harder shit...all landed in jail some way or another...and ALL have piss poor jobs (if any). I've smoked my share of J's. If you want to stop for some girl who isn't even nice to you then good, I suppose then at least something positive is coming out of it. Otherwise, I would say don't bother with the opinion of someone who hates you. Do you like her? Do it makes you guilty that she hates you because of the pot? I'd understand that.
Maybe this is the road you're on right now. And the street sign says Pot. It's a forked road and you can choose either way: the smoking road filled with bad lungs, jail, and pot, or the empty, foreign road. If this girl is the fork prodding you to finally choose (even if it's through hate) then maybe it's not so bad.
Choose.

Well, I'm starting a new diet on monday, here's a link to it:
http://www.everydiet.org/diet/3-day-diet
And it seems like a pretty well-planned out diet, you know. And very balanced out, too.
And I was reading about it (from other sources) that I should do the diet for three days, and then eat normal for 4 days. BUT, I'm scared that if i start to eat normal, I will go on a binge. And you can easily screw up a week's worth of diet with one binge, because 3500 calories = one pound. Scary, huh?
ANYWAYS, i was thinking, can i just follow this diet? Day after day? Whenever the three days are over, I start over again from the top. Would it be healthy? (link)
|
Burn off more calories then you intake each week. If you are taking in, for instance 2500 then cut out 500 calories to lose weight. I do believe by burning 500-600 calories off of your normal amount/week will burn approx. 1 pound. So said my nutrition instructor. Diet everyday! Eat healthy, be healthy and exercise. It's a good habit once you get into it and it will most definitely be harder to be in the habit of eating healthy if, for four days of the week, you eat poorly. I hope that helps some for you. For some serious hardworking, butt-kicking workouts I'd recommend the P90X. You can check out their website if you want. They are pricey, but good. Cut calories down, eat better and exercise. It's not so bad! =)
|
I get a lot of buises on my legs but I don't know why. Sometimes I think it's because I'm an active sleeper and sometimes I bump a lot to things around me. How can I get them go away quickly? (link)
|
You can't really speed up the healing process of bruises much--or at least not to my knowledge. However, it is possible you are anemic which means you are lacking iron. A vitamin could help suffice or a change in diet. =)
|
Hey im 19 years old and i want to lose my belly fat and i know that running will help me lose my belly but im skinny from my legs so i dont wanna lose from my legs and i think that if i start runnin that my legs will get thinner and i dont want that, does anyone have any idea what i could do?
(link)
|
Sit ups, crunches, jumping jack and push ups. Work out! I'd also recommend drinking a protein shake afterword to helps build muscle mass and ease any soreness. Also, you're legs might thin "some" if you run, but if anything they will grow Stronger! You will have toned, healthy, perhaps even strong, legs. Might be nice. If you're a man then a lot of upper body work out (not with the arms really) will get rid of that gut. Decline pushups or anything like that. Perhaps start looking at fitness magazines. Good luck to you. :D A strong leg is a good leg.

wow i need serious help
i am so white like its scary. not really but is there a good spraytan that stays for a while. i hate reaplyying things a million times please let me know (link)
|
I have a different opinion on tans. It is just the newest culture fad that is sweeping the nation. There is absolutely nothing wrong with looking the way you are supposed to look. However, if you still wish to tan then the "easiest" way to do this would be to go to a salon. I do believe the 'high performance' beds are the beds. They cost slightly more but they are upright and I think they spray you? I'm not sure on that. Be proud of your skin color though! If everyone starts tanning then it will be the few who don't that will stick out and I mean that in a positive way. =D
