My middle child and only son is 9 almost 10 and we moved in June and in august my older kids started at their new s schools apparently my son has been doing awful he never mentioned anything and neither did the school and now as the semester is ending his teacher sends us a note about his poor grades how do I help him with school please take into account i have a new job and 4 daughters that also need me

You should treat this as mostly a failing grade for the *school*. It's the school's responsibility to teach your son and keep him engaged, and clearly they're failing to do so. Quite possibly your son isn't putting in enough effort, or is allowing himself to become distracted or whatever, but he's only 9 years old -- it's the school which should be doing whatever's necessary to make him perform.

Probably you should speak to his teachers and figure out what's up. Very possibly you can do some things to help, such as by encouraging your son to take his homework and classes seriously if he's not already. By all means, if your son is goofing off all the time, it's probably appropriate to discipline him. But if the teachers start saying that it's all your fault or your son's fault, don't take that. They're the adults who are spending 40 hours per week with him with the sole purpose of teaching him.

If you reach the point where no improvement seems possible, I recommend changing schools.

Keep in mind that it's kind of unnatural for a 9-year-old to be spending 8 hours per day sitting indoors at a desk. Oftentimes kids this age just can't concentrate this long. Although some might encourage you to do so, I'd be very reluctant to give your son medication for attention deficit disorder. Being inattentive in this environment is natural, and the proper solution is for the school to work around it in some way.

My breasts are around a 38AA and my butt isn't exactly big. (I'm very skinny) I like the idea of my body being "cute" instead of "sexy," but I'm still very insecure about it. How can I be more confident in my own skin? I'm a 19 year old female, by the way.

Even though there's a persistent cultural idea that men are only attracted to big breasts and butts, this is totally inaccurate. If you look at the various "lists of 2015/2016's hottest women" out there, you'll see that a large percentage of women listed do not have large breasts.

Some people are very shallow. Some of them might totally disregard you because you don't fit their ideal, while others might be especially attracted to you. In either case, it's probably best to avoid shallow people.

But with that in mind, if you want to improve your attractiveness, I recommend focusing on things like your hair and skin, as well as anything that would improve your health (eg. bringing your BMI / bodyfat percentage up or down into the normal range). These are things that men will pretty much universally find attractive, unlike your general proportions, which most men don't particularly care about.

adviceman49's advice was generally good, but I wouldn't even have breast enhancement surgery as an option on the table unless you're suffering from severe body dysphoria. With perfect surgery you'd maybe become extra attractive to 20% of men, less attractive to 10% of men, and the rest wouldn't care.

So I have always had massive issues with procrastination, but never as bad as it has been in the past few months. I have also always gotten away with it, because I procrastinated until I had exactly as much time as I needed to get my stuff done quickly and still do well on it.

That's about to change. I was assigned an essay in September, due tomorrow. I left it until this weekend, thinking I would spend all day Saturday on it. WRONG! I woke up feeling shitty from lack of sleep and didn't get anything done all day, and proceeded to procrastinate sleeping so that I was exhausted Sunday as well and didn't get anything done...but still didn't sleep as much as I should have

Now its almost 2:30 am and I still have 4 pages of this essay to write and a project due tomorrow, and I am so tired I can't stop shaking and I don't think I will be able to finish all of this on time.

So now that I have realized how big of a problem I have, I need to find a way to fix this problem. This is where I need help! Anybody? Somebody? I have no idea how to deal with my procrastination, because it has definitely gotten worse and I can't afford any more nights like this because there is no way I am doing well on this essay.

Don't tell me to just do it. It doesn't work. I try. I promise I try. I just get so distracted because I hate writing essays and then all of a sudden its 2 am and I still have to do the whole thing...

I had the same problem in school/university. I never totally got over it, and I did my share of staying awake for 48 hours straight to finish a huge project, but here are a few tricks that helped me at times:

- For me at least, my procrastination was driven to some extent by perfectionism. To address this, try not to care *too* much about quality. 75% of school success is just completing assigned tasks on time. It's usually better to turn in something sub-standard on time than to get in the habit of turning everything in late.
- Electronic devices are inherently distracting. Try to do as much work on the project as possible on pen and paper, with all electronic devices in another room. Translate from paper to a word processor at the end. Rather than using online sources, try to use more paper sources from the library: they're usually better anyway.
- Try to break the project into smaller tasks. For example, when doing a research-based essay, first go to the library and get some source materials, then take bullet-point notes from the sources, then write a draft on paper, and finally transfer this to a word processor. Try to do these separated tasks on different days.
- Make up deadlines for milestones, and try to mind-game yourself into thinking that these deadlines are actually hard deadlines. For example, you could say that you need to finish researching by Dec 1, do 2 pages by Dec 5, finish it by Dec 10. Only do a few deadlines: trying to schedule every single day never works.
- Contemplate how easy it'd be to do just a *little* work on the project. For example, you could say to yourself, "I'll just add one more sentence." Oftentimes, after you do this small amount of work, you'll feel like doing some more. And if you still can't bring yourself to continue working, at least you made *some* progress.
- When you're getting worryingly close to a deadline (a real one or one of your made-up ones), figure out what you're doing when you should be working, and ban yourself from doing those things *at all* until the necessary work is done. Say to yourself, "I don't have to work on the project, but if I don't then I'm just going to sit here and stare at the wall, because I'm not going to do TIME_WASTING_ACTIVITY."

My alcoholic mother neglected my education from age 5 by "unschooling" me (it's code for lazy parents who are too prideful to admit their failure in homeschooling) I'm going to be 18 next year and I've never been so depressed and hopeless.

I tried to motivate myself to catch up academically years ago, but it just made me too upset to even open a text book.

I have no idea what to do. I feel like I have no future.

The primary purpose of most schools is to keep kids busy while their parents are working. 50-80% of time at school is spent on things unrelated to actually learning anything. And when they do teach you anything, they teach it at the slowest possible pace so that the unmotivated don't get left behind. I honestly think that someone with zero education, but a *drive* to catch up, will be able to equal or exceed most school-educated people in only 2-4 years of intense study. It is entirely possible for you to even go to college if you work at it, though you might go a few years later than normal.

And I'm sure you weren't just staring at a wall for 13 years. Whatever you were doing, you must've learned *something*. In some areas, you're probably better than other people.

I recommend getting the most in-depth GED study book that you can and working toward a GED. If you find it difficult to work on your own, most community colleges will offer fairly cheap GED study courses. For math, khanacademy.org is a good site -- it's designed to teach math in the same way that schools do nowadays. On khanacademy.org, go to "Subjects" in the upper left and then go through "math by grade", starting wherever you feel comfortable.

Once you get a GED, you will have roughly the same level of raw education as a high-school graduate, and you will be able to get into many 2-year universities if you want. After getting an associate degree at a 2-year university, you will be able to transfer into many 4-year universities; there, you can get a bachelor's degree or even more. Your lack of education is a setback, but with determination you ABSOLUTELY CAN reach higher levels of education than even most high-school graduates.

i'm not sure how to word this properly. i'm 23/f and my entire life i've been curious as to whether or not i am as smart as someone my age should be. i don't feel like i'm quick witted and i never did well in school. i'm not sure how well i retain knowledge because i smoke weed, also. of course no one around me can answer this honestly because of fear that my feelings will get hurt. but i want to know. so i guess my question is what tests can i take or what can i do to find out this information?

Quitting weed wouldn't be a bad idea.

Don't trust any of those online IQ tests. They're notoriously unreliable. A real, paper IQ test takes (I think) several hours to complete. You might find it interesting to take a real IQ test, though you have to pay for that. And I don't think that this is really necessary.

Lots of really smart people do poorly in school. Don't worry about that.

I think that a good way of evaluating yourself is to look at what you've created. Like maybe you've made some nice paintings, or you've written some useful computer programs, or you were an important contributor to a big project/proposal at work, or something like that. How have you added to "the collective works of Humanity"? And if you haven't created very much, you should try to change that. Even the *attempt* will make you smarter and better.

My boyfriend asked me tonight if I was a virgin because he is and has never done anything at all. We've been dating on a couple weeks and I didn't know how to answer it though. This is why:

I've gave a few guys head
I've been fingered A LOT
I had anal twice
I masturbate like once a day

I never had like...sex sex, you know? Like the making babies kind LOL. You know what I mean. Does that mean I'm a virgin?

You'll get different answers from different people about that. I'd guess that a slight majority of people would say that you're still a virgin. But the term doesn't really matter that much, especially when people generally don't agree on its definition.

In any case, I recommend just being honest with him about your history. You don't have to give him a detailed account of everything, but you can get the basic idea across in a few sentences. Telling him that you're a virgin without qualifying that statement is not quite the truth, and it might lead to other untruths in the future which could make your relationship worse than it could be.

Is the amazon streaming service that comes with prime membership any good? Do they have enough things to make it worthwhile, or do you still have to buy most everything good? And what is the quality like compared to netflix or hulu that I am used to?

Thank you!

I don't think that it's worth the full cost of Prime, but it's a nice bonus if you want the other Prime benefits. I've found quite a bit of good Amazon Instant Video content. Hulu has more stuff, though Amazon has no ads.

I'm of shy nature, but I love making videos. I personally think I've got good ideas to entertain people with bad movie reviews, sketches, top 10, etc. The only thing is... I'm scared that people end up mocking me and/or dislike me.

I know you cannot be loved by everyone, but I'm scared I get more hate than appreciation. I really want to do this though, should I take a risk or being a liked youtuber is excessively hard?

People who dislike your videos will probably forget about you. (Though maybe not before leaving a negative comment.) You're unlikely to enrage someone so much that they'll follow you around on YouTube making nasty comments, especially if you follow a policy of not feeding trolls. Don't worry too much about this.

If you look at the old videos of many popular YouTubers, you'll see that their first videos are often awkward, low-quality, and scarcely-viewed. But they persisted, and for every thousand people who hated their videos or ignored them, maybe one person became a subscriber. Over the years, as they refined their video-making techniques, and as word spread, their popularity grew. However, becoming big on YouTube is pretty rare. You need to consistently create content for several years to get anywhere, it seems. Having hundreds of high-quality videos out there for people to stumble upon is key.

To start with, I recommend doing videos about somewhat niche things that haven't already been covered much by popular YouTubers. A video like, "Top 10 videos of 2013," is never going to be seen because people will see the thousands of more popular videos first. But a video like, "Review of Some Obscure Movie," will be seen by people searching for that movie. Try to use keywords that are searchable, but not dominated by more popular videos.

Good luck!

So, it takes my laptop, the only thing in the house connected to our wifi, 10 minutes to buffer 3 seconds of a Youtube video in 240p quality. Am I doing something wrong or is our internet really that slow?

Is it faster when you're connected to the router directly? If it is, my first guess would be that there's a problem somewhere with the laptop's connection. Maybe something's wrong with the laptop's wireless adaptor causing high packet loss or something.

So, lately my laptop won't let me click. For ex. I go onto Google and it won't let me click on the links. If I right click though I can 'open in new tab' which doesn't always work.

And this thing called 'sonar' always pops up and says a potential threat has been detected. and I always click block this file/behavior. And if I sign in to like watt pad, I can't. It won't let me create a new chapter b clicking 'new chapter'.

And I can't sign in!!! The place where you put in like the 'www.blababla' stuff is always blocking the sign in. My dad cleaned it with sonar, but apparently it hasn't fixed the clicking problem.

I have a windows 7 I got on august 8th early for my birthday. I have to admit I've been downloading songs PREVIOUSLY!

but haven't done so since. My laptop updated on November 1st or 2nd

. I think it's 2010 or whenever was the latest thing for windows 7.

Please help :( and Im only 13 so saying big words is difficult. lol. but, I really need help!

Btw, whenever I go on extragram this thing 'used' to pop up when I signed in and it said 'email bla bla subscribe.' you know, usual and it won't let me exit or press continue!

I refreshed, reloaded and retried. Only reason why i work's is cuz i used my ipod. Thanks in advance! Please list instructions btw.

You should really find someone "in real life" who can look at the computer. It's hard to debug something like this over the Internet.

Try running this anti-malware software:
http://www.malwarebytes.org/
http://www.safer-networking.org/
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix

I'd also try stopping processes from running at startup. One of them might be causing the problem.
http://www.netsquirrel.com/msconfig/msconfig_win7.html

It's also possible that your mouse button is just broken.

I'm not sure if this is your kind of area but whatever...

Ever since last night, all Youtube videos that have ads don't load. The ads don't load, I can't skip them. I can choose if I want 1 commercial ad or some specific one, no matter what I choose it does not load the ad and does not continue to the video. Any videos without ads load just dandily. I'm using Google Chrome and I don't have any ad blocking plug-ins or programs.

How do I fix this?

Try Ctrl+F5 on the YouTube page.

If that doesn't work, I'd probably try clearing all of my browser data (cookies, cache, etc.). Also clear flash cookies if that doesn't work.

Hello,

What websites would those experienced with using PHP recommend for beginners?
What other script languages are like PHP?

Is there a website with before and after examples with PHP code and it's function output? I learn better visually and by seeing how it comes together.

I'd recommend just reading through the PHP manual:
http://www.php.net/manual/en/
Many of the documentation pages for functions have usage examples.

PHP is a very poorly-designed programming language. It's sometimes nice to use because there are so many built-in functions, but it's slow, inconsistent, unsafe, uselessly-verbose, and error-prone. I'd recommend working with a better programming language to start with if you ever want to do any real programming. Python is popular now and fairly easy. Perl is similar to PHP (PHP was designed to be "Perl for the masses"), but Perl is actually competently-designed.

I have a Kindle (normal Kindle). I got it for Christmas, I know how to use it perfectly fine. But I'm having an issue with something new I've never done before.
One of the books I purchased, the author said to email the review I had for the book to her and I would get a free kindle copy of her new book she had coming out. I did that and now a few months later, I have an email from her with the new kindle book she promised. She told me to just download the file to my Kindle but I'm not sure how. I don't know what folder to put the download in and I don't want to mess anything up.
The two folders I see are titled ".active-content-data" and "documents". The "documents" folder has the titles of the books I have downloaded in there but repeated multiple times with different file extensions. I thought that might be the correct folder but I want to ask just to make sure. I don't want to mess up my kindle and make it have any errors or things like that. I tried googling for an answer but I couldn't seem to type the right question phrase into Google that gave me any helpful information.

Thanks in advance.

I usually use this to transfer files to my Kindle:

My computer is missing a lot of programs that we used to have. It won't download anything and I can't access any of the programs I have on my computer. Will it work if I wipe out my computer & re-install windows vista?

It won't help if your hard drive is broken, as I suspect.

Every time I click on something on my computer a thing pops up saying:"Please choose the program you want to open with this file". It has adobe reader, internet explorer, quicktime & itunes, when I click on any of them, something pops up saying "view your downloads" , we can't download anything. It says that the program I need to download might not be on the computer? I'm using windows xp. Evertime I clock on any program in my computer something pops up saying "choose what program you want to open this with." or I might not have the right program. I can't get on windows media player, control panel, adobe reader, etc. I can't download or anything. What is wrong? How can I fix this?
Please help me!!! I can't download anything on my computer and I don't know why.

That sounds like something is seriously wrong. I doubt it's just a problem with the file associations -- it sounds like the programs themselves are also missing. I'd guess massive disk corruption.

Make sure your data is backed up ASAP.

Can you open things like Adobe Reader or Windows Media Player directly, without double-clicking a file? If you can, it might just be a software problem. If not, I think you'll need a new computer or repairs on this one.

I bought a new laptop and it came with a free 1 month Norton Internet Security program and it is about to run out. What program would you recommend to replace it? I'm willing to spend a bit of cash (maybe around $100 at most) because I've had horrible experiences of not protecting my computer.

Microsoft Security Essentials:

I want to know how to position your scroll box to the right side of your page. Codes like " and "float:right" do not work. Is there any other code that might suit on positioning your scroll box on a page? Including that the scroll box doesn't show behind an image on your page, but on top of the image.

I don't know what scroll box you're talking about, but usually you can just wrap whatever it is in . Like:

Whatever you want to float right.

What is Internet Security software currently in the market today that consume less resources on our PCs?

I usually recommend Microsoft Security Essentials:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/products/security-essentials

It's very resource-light. Probably the best free antivirus.

If you want to pay, ESET NOD32 is known for its low resource consumption and excellent detection. I've also heard good things about F-Secure.
