I hope you have a reliable forecast, it would really suck to plan all this and it wouldn't rain! You could make a cd of your favorite love songs and play it on the stereo while you dance in the rain. Find out what homemade treat he really loves and surprise him with it on your picnic! Download a map of the stars and print it off. Bring it along on your date and look for the Big and Little Dipper etc. then you can choose your own star and name it,(maybe a combination of your two names, you know like Kimye or Brangelina) and you can mark it on your map and then later have it framed. Nothing could be more romantic than having your own star together! Good luck to you both! [ GiddyGeezer's advice column | Ask GiddyGeezer A Question ]
I like the other persons idea of getting him supplies. Maybe get something that you guys can do together or he can show you how and teach you? Like a little project for the two of you.
You can get a little picture of the two of you and put it in a picture frame. You can decorate if you're feeling up to it but either way, it'd be cute.
I've even wanted to get a small picture of me and my boyfriend and laminate it and punch a hole so that we both could have one on our keys. I think it's a cute idea.
I also like the others idea of getting him his favorite drink. Whenever anyone just gets me something small like my favorite candy or drink or something, it feels special because they were out, saw the candy and thought about me. Those little things make a huge difference.
Also, guys love food.
Or just get him something that he likes. Like if he likes playing hackey sack, get him one. Or buy him cologne.
I'd try back massage or foot massage. Some guys aren't that into massages. My boyfriend doesn't like massages so I'll lightly scratch his back.
missundersmock answered Wednesday May 14 2014, 3:19 am: since he likes to crochet you could buy him some of the supplies he usually buys for himself but in colors you think he might like or a project for him to do that involves crochet (you know, just things that help in the creative process)
This is kind of a long shot, but some people really like to do this in the summertime. you could buy a butterfly grow kit, and grow some butterflies that are native to your area. Then gently put them in a box and if you go out on a walk in the park or somewhere outside since its real nice out now, you could give him the box and have him open them, and he'll get to watch them flutter out! = )
some people like to put a picture of the two of them together at the bottom of the box and or take a picture of his face when he see's them all fluttering out infront of him!
the kits really dont cost that much and come with everything you need to grow them. their simple creatures and it will take a few weeks, but will be WELL worth it seeing the receiver's face when they open the box. hehee

If you know his favorite color and if he has a favorite stone, craft stores like Michaels will have the real semi precious stones. Then finish it off with a pendant also should be available for common things people like, a star, moon, dolphins, sharks tooth, arrow head, etc... Thats something homemade that has impressed any guy I've ever given one to and they actually wore it.
Bring his favorite drink in a thermos since you mentioned stars-must be at night when its cooler, whether its a certain flavored coffee, chai tea, hot cocoa or perhaps something special-non warm like a bottle of Martinelli's apple cider if its in stores in your area. It looks like a green bottle of wine but is non alcoholic. Make some homemade cookies to bring along too for the picnic part of it. Everyone has a different way they recognize when they are being shown love and prefer to show it the same way. For some people, it's just quality time spent together and if he is such a person, the rest of what you do won't matter more than just your presence but will be appreciated. Some like giving and receiving gifts, which he's already done, so the homemade cookies will do well. Others show affection best by physical touch and appreciate the same in return. You might offer to massage his shoulders. Another non sexual way to touch is to give a scalp massage. Try it on yourself first and you'll see it good it feels. Another way people show love and affection is Words of Affirmation, loving thoughtful things said or written...which you already are planning on with the love notes. Lastly, some folks show how special someone is to them by Acts of service-serving them, doing stuff for them that they can do themselves, helping out with chores...which doesnt seem to fit your scenerio. Anything you do that covers the other area's will make it memorable. [ Dragonflymagic's advice column | Ask Dragonflymagic A Question ]
