It all depends on your height, your frame, how you are built, your muscles, ect.
The only way to know for sure is to see a doctor.
I'm pretty sure you can be up to 130 and not be considered overweight. So just go see a doctor because they can be more specific with you and tell you or your friend the weight range you should be in.

The average weight for a 12 year old female is between 91.5 to 130 pounds. Remember average means the middle ground between the high and the low. The only person who can tell you what the best weight for you or your friend would be your family doctor(s) or pediatrician(s).

There are a number of other factors that go into determining a persons proper weight which your doctors will use to come up with a proper weight for you individually. Muscle mass, frame size, height and weight are 4 factors most commonly used by a doctor. There may be other factors unique to the individual the doctor will take into account such as being an athlete.

While their is an overly simple answer to your question. At your age(s) it is important that you have a doctor determine if your weight is proper for you at your point in your bodies developmental age. This is usually done and given to your parents during your yearly physical for school.

I checked a BMI chart (it tells you how much you should weigh for your height) and you could be up to around 130 pounds without being considered overweight.

However, you shouldn't really worry too much about the "correct" weight for your height, because a lot of things contribute to weight, not just fat. Muscle, for instance, weighs more than fat, but takes up less space (it's denser). So one of my athletic friends with the same height as me may weigh more than me but still be thinner.

So even though you can technically look up the "correct" weight for your height online, you really should see a doctor. You may be considered overweight for your age, but your doctor may say that your weight is OK for you.

I don't recommend trying to diet on your own, especially at your friend's age (I'm guessing it's close to yours). If she's really concerned, she should speak to an adult that can help her go to the doctor or put her on a reasonable diet.
