12 years old (F) and wants to lose weight.

Question Posted Friday November 2 2012, 11:12 am

Please help me on how I can lose weight. I'm tired of being fat and I need to lose it NOW. I don't need gestures on how I can just "not eat desserts" or anything like that. Just please tell me how I can lose weight. Please name the excersize and how many calories burned (I don't play sports. Just excersizing please). I can't go to a doctor or my PE teacher or my mom or anything like that. I don't want my mom to think even more that i'm fat. And my mom will have to go with me to the doctor. And my PE teacher hates me. So please help me before I starve myself (I don't need a gesture on that. If I can't find any excersize, that's what i'm going to do no matter what)...

Your weight is based on height. To calculate the weight you ought to be Google BMI Index Chart and type in your height and that you are female and an adolescent. It will pop up your target weight.

Although you may think you are fat the reality is you may not be. Before beginning any diet or exercise program you need to visit a doctor for advice and have them put you on a program and monitor your nutrition and eating habits. It's the only way to succeed.

Why can't you talk to your mother or a teacher? It's confidential with teachers and I'm sure by now you can come to your mother with any concern no matter how embarrassing you think it is. Trust me, your mom was your age once and likely grappled with the same things you are. I would talk to her.

If you are overweight or in need of a diet she would be a powerful ally wanting to see you reach your goals, same with a doctor or a teacher. Don't be afraid to talk to people about this. It's no big deal.

You said the PE teacher doesn't like you. Are you sure that's 100% so? They may be critical of your gym performance but not of you as a person. If you don't want their help try another teacher or counselor you feel you can trust. Best person is mom or a doctor. Anything you tell a doctor alone can't be told to parents and that includes taling about sex, puberty or anything troubling you unless you are causing physical harm to yourself.

Waking for 30 minutes everyday, running, sit ups, jump rope, push ups, eat healthy, drink lots of water. Let yourself know everyday that you are beautiful no matter what:)

Ignore those answers. Sweetie you are 12 years old. You're supposed to have baby fat still. As your body is growing, the older you get the taller you get. And that extra skin, and "fat" will be stretched. So think of it as a new skin. It's loose on you as a child, but as you're getting older, your skin begins to fit. You don't need to worry about losing weight. If you want to stay healthy, which is what you should be worrying about right now, then stop worrying about your weight. Because stressing can cause you to gain weight even when you do not eat. Excercise is important, and I wouldn't cut that out of your life. So, you can go to playgrounds and play. It's that simple. Go for walks, go swimming, ride a bike. All of these simple fun activities, will keep you healthy. Depending on your weight I would assume maybe 80 pounds, or around there, you should be having physical activity for at least 30 minutes a day. Cut out soda as much as possible. But don't pass on treats now and then. You do your excercise, and you aren't worrying about your weight for say a week, have that candy bar or soda pop you've been craving. What matters is what you think of yourself. You need to respect and love yourself before you expect anyone to respect and love you. Be confident. You're a person. You have a special place in this world that you haven't figured out yet. Worry about doing school. That's the most important thing.

If there is a gym around you, ask to join one. Or even do jogs in the morning. Or simply get an exercise tape and workout in your room. I know for Comcast/Infinity customers OnDemand offers free exercise programs. Cut down on sugary things especially soda and sugary drinks. Make sure you are eating three meals a day (no starving yourself doesn't help) just try to cut down your proportions on meals by even having light snacks in between your meal periods. Drink LOTS of water. I drink a water before and after each meal. Not just because it actually helps you stay full it's very good for your kidneys.

Hello there, I used to be in the marching band of my senior high which was relentless work in the blistering heat for five hours everyday of the sumer. That used to be my main workout but now that I've graduated and am at college not participating in band, I needed to find my own means of exercise to not gain that Freshman 15! I cannot tell you how many calories burned because everybody is different and it depends how hard one is willing to work. First, I walk for a half hour straight on a treadmill every weekday. Second, I follow thinspo blogs on tumblr to keep me motivated and inspire me, plus they give quick exercises to do right when you wake up or right before bed or even if you only have 5 minutes of free time to really get your heart rate up. On the weekend, I look up exercises on youtube, I know it sounds silly but I am a visual learner so I pick up how to do the exercises quicker when I watch somebody else do them. My favorite workout guru on youtube if blogilates, she puts workouts to her favorite songs so the workout only lasts as long as the song, usually about 4 minutes but it is hard work for that little bit of time. I like the Call Me Maybe Mighty Squat Challenge, for the first time two weeks ago I finally could go through the whole thing without stopping. It's good work and if you work at it for a while, it gives you a "thigh gap."
If you are looking for something to start off easier, I used to do aerobic exercises sitting down on a chair (which I, again, found on youtube) it got my heart rate up so I knew I was losing calories but it wasn't too strenuous for a beginner. Youtube is your friend, you can find anything on there and the videos I use involve nothing but me and things I have at home already, not some crazy gym contraptions!
Remember, anything pays off with a little hard work so do just that and don't give up until you see results!
And nevertheless, never forget this: nothing is without reason, not even nothing.
