Do I need to get a birthday present for my new boyfriend?

Question Posted Thursday December 22 2011, 2:00 am

I just started dating this guy like a week and a half ago, and his birthday is right around Christmas. We've been friends since the start of the school year, but I don't know if I'm supposed to get him a present...? We are only 14, and not very serious yet. Any advice? Do I need to get him something, and if so, what are some ideas? Thanks.

If you plan on getting him a present get something small or else he will worry and think he has to get you something huge. Some ideas I got for my boyfriend is a gift card to EB games, Or you could go and get something like chocolate or candy, it really depends on your boyfriends personality. Good luck, hope this helped :)

Well if you plan on giving him a present do something small. Maybe a picture of the two of you together. Maybe write him a poem or give him some candy. You don't have to go all out because you just started dating. Good luck and Happy Holidays!

If I was in your position, I would. Nothing huge, but still, it's the thought that counts.
You know him better than us.. what does he like?
If you really aren't sure, then get him a card and bake him some nicely decorated cookies (or whatever food he likes) Thought would have definitely gone into make him a present AND it's food - you can't go wrong with food for a guy ;)

You should get him something. Not too much but something to show you care. I'm sure he'd appreciate it.
Maybe get him a card and something you know he likes. Sports stuff, t shirt, hat, or anything close to that.
If you really can't find anything. A gift card is always nice with some candy.

I'm sure he'd appreciate some consideration from you on his birthday. It doesn't have to be anything big. A small gesture like a card and something you know he'd like. Or perhaps making a point of celebrating his birthday with him and arranging a day/night out at a venue he likes.Regardless of what you decide to do for the occasion, it's the effort you make for it that shows someone that you care.

Believe it or not, guys like both compliments and presents. He would appreviate it if you get him sonething he likes, for example a music CD, or a tee, or a coffee mug autographed by you. These are some general ideas but if you tell me sepcifically what kind of a person he is, I might just help you more. :)

And if you are having seconds thought about the gift thing because you think it's just 'week and a half' you need not worry, because it really doesn't matter.

PS - Please DO NOT get a barbie doll for him. lol :P Good luck!
