Hi everyone, sorry if this may be alittle gross; I'm just curious as to why.
Ok, 19/f; the past couple of days my vagina has smelled like fish. I take a shower/bath everyday, and I clean with non scented soap. So I know its not my cleaning habits.
I noticed that it does this when me and my boyfriend have sex; like a couple of hours later it'll do it; condoms or not.
When I am sitting down, and I open my legs, I can smell it. It's really strong. It doesn't burn, or itch, and it doesn't last that long;
Any tips?
Thanks!
& I learned a couple of years ago, that when I eat fish; that it makes me smell; so I stopped eating fish; Wednesday&Today I had some crab meat, but idk if that has anything to do with it either;

Also, When you clean it down there your not supposed to use "scented" soap, that can lead to weird smell, and cause infection. Also, Maybe your boyfiend is the one that is stinky. It's not about hygeine, some people get these things from being TOO clean - don't forget, your vagina is a self cleansing organ, so putting ANY soap down there isn't the greatest idea. Just simply use water and don't douche.. it upsets the vagina's natural flora.
I suggest you make an appointment with your Doc, to see if you need any medication to make it go away.
and as for eating fish and making you smell, I've never personally heard that one before, so I Googled it out of curiosity and found that other people also smell after eating fish, especially crab meat.. I don't know how true that is.. but maybe give that a mention to your doc, too. :) [ thelaura's advice column | Ask thelaura A Question ]
