Because it comes from a time when women were treated as little more than glorified chattel. It also doesn't help that women merchandise their sexuality anyway in exchange for whatever favors they hope to get out of it.

As a result of virginity being made something so special and one's lack of access to a girl also playing into it, virginity has become fetishized by guys who would love nothing more than to dominate and control women.

Virginity, in the grand scheme of things, is meaningless. Sex is a normal bodily desire just as the need to go to the bathroom is. People really need to relax about it and just enjoy sex for what it is.

its the biggest one of the biggest gifts you can be blessed with , your suppose to cover it most of the time because its so precious.. it creates a huge bond.. and so many teenagers are having sex with different peopple regularly and they are breaking the gift.. its been given by God to us and if you guys do have sex... like I once read mathew once said fi your going to have sex marry then... its so valuable its the closet thing to have to loving bodies interact with one another its suppose to pull you guys closer and create your own image and something both of you share its something you should keep to yourself and not expose or sell it... its not right , is valued in some people/cultures because they know and recognize how valuable it really is and how greateful it is to be able to keep it and share it with ONE person that ONE person is suppose to pleasure you and love you and it comes with benefits of commitment loyality and love and some fights here and there , but your suppose to work through it , viriginity is a defintion of purity...

Virginity is one of the most special things that should only be shared between husband and wife. We all hear about teenagers having sex before marriage, and it causes so many problems between the two who have sex. I know that if people wait until after they're married to have sex, then they will not only be safe, but they will also be happier.

Hope I helped!

Some people firmly believe they should wait until they are married. Why? because giving your virginity should be shared between someone special not just any random person.

Virginity is supposed to be a special thing, Many people these days just go and have sex with about anyone. My personal view? Well I lost my virginity at 17, Do I wish I waited even longer than I did? I do. However, There isn't much I can do to change the past but I sure as hell wish I held off until I found the right person.

There are many reasons to why virginity is valuable but the biggest reason in culture is mainly because they don't want to give it too wrong person.

Yes, usually in a highly misogynistic way.
