Well just do your homework and find out as much as you can! The more you know the better chance you have of putting it in right. Plus you can always ask your friend! Little bit of advice though, dont pull them out when they are still super dry... it hurts. So the best time to wear them is during the heaviest point in your period. So if your period is very heavy on say the 3rd day start wearing them then. And just wear liners when its barely there anymore. Oh and you proabbly already know this BUT....... DO NOT LEAVE THEM IN FOR MORE THAN FOUR HOURS! With certain ones they give yo a risk of TSS (Toxic Shock Syndrome) So that also means DO NOT sleep with a tampon. Sleep in a pad. Much safer. Hope I helped :) ]
At first it might hurt because you are still a virgin and sticking stuff up there may hurt alittle but I wouldn't worry it just takes some getting used to. ]
I was twelve when I tried my first tampon. Yes it hurt, but you get use to it. It's because of your hymen. Some girls pop their hymen when inserting a tampon, that's why it's painful. But also they have different sizes. Like small, regular, super. ]
I used to be scared to death of tampons, simply because I didn't know how to use them. They really don't hurt, just follow the instructions on the box and everything will go fine :] If it takes a few tries before you get it in correctly that is completely fine too! Honestly, I am seventeen and still typically wear pads just because they are easier for me. My suggestion is use pads whenever you can but if you need to then wear a tampon. Eventually most girls end up liking tampons way better than pads anyway because they forget that they are there and don't have to really worry about it...Just don't forget to change it every few hours! ]
I was exactly like you at your age, afraid to use tampons. I actually was so afraid that I didn't start using them until I was 15. My best advice would be to give it a try. It's a little painful at first and scary but believe me, once you get used to them it is completely worth it. Many tampon brands sell light or slender tampons that are smaller than regular ones, so I would start with those. It will feel uncomfortable the first time and might hurt a little (depending on your personal female anatomy) but how will you know if you don't try? Give it a shot, its only going to be a few seconds of pain/discomfort and you can always take it out if it hurts too bad. Also, make sure you ask an older female that you feel comfortable with how to use them properly because a lot of why it could hurt is not using them right. I wouldn't go by the pictures on the directions that come in the box, those used to scare me away from using them. Good luck! If you have any more questions about this, if there's anything else you'd be too afraid to post directly on the website feel free to ask me personally, I'll answer anything! ]
They do not hurt at all. If your 12 yr old friend said it hurt. Its because she pushed it in WAY to far or she didn't put it in right. I am 13, and i've been using them since i was 10. They don't hurt if inserted properly. And you get the right size. Your mother or a relative could help you with that part (: ]
