I also am on the lacrosse team but I have never played before and there are other girls on the team who have been playing since age 4. Help!!!!

How you cope with failure will determine how you navigate through life. Even very successful people fail on occasion. In fact, some of them were lifelong screwups before becoming bigtime players. They became successes because they were persistent and kept their eyes open for opportunities.
So relax. Nobody is going to be good at every sport they try. Sports actually doesn't matter a whole hell of a lot in life. It is more important to focus on doing well in the classroom. All you can do is the best you can and pay attention to what you can learn from your failures and use that as a springboard for further improvement. Try to sever the emotion from it and look at things rationally. ]
Hi, I am old enough to be your grandfather and hopefully the wisdom of my age will be helpful.
One low grade and being new to a sports team is not a reason to call yourself a failure. You are being way to hard on yourself and need to lighten up before you do yourself some real mental and physical harm.
One low grade is not going to ruin your life. You haven't said what grade your in. Unless you are in your Junior or Senior year of high school it will not even reflect on your college transcripts in away that will hurt you. For whatever reason you were just not prepared for a pop quiz.
If you want to improve that grade go to your science teacher and talk with him/her. As a straight A student I'm sure your teacher will realize something was wrong and that this quiz was not up to your usual standards and be willing to help you bring your grade up.
As to the Lacrosse team. I get the feeling you are more of an academic person and not a sports person. The reason in joining a sports team is to look good on a college application or to try for some scholarship money.
Most of scholarship money goes to outstanding players. Unless you have played the sport since you were young it is going to be hard for you to become an outstanding player. There is scholarship money for academic achievement as well. As A straight A student there must be one subject that you enjoy over the others. It could be math, science, History or anything else. If your school has a math club, science club or debating team join one of them. Colleges give scholarship money to students with high academic achievement and interest just as much as they do sports achievement.
Colleges want outstanding students in all areas of endeavor. We hear about their sports achievements because the football and basketball teams bring in the big money. The money they use to award scholarships for academic achievements as well.
While it is just a feeling I am getting. I feel you will be far more comfortable in the academic side of school and trying for academic scholarships then a sports scholarship.
Talk with your parents and she if they don't agree with me. ]

It's just one quiz, relax. I'm sure if you ace the rest of them you can still get an A. If not just see if you can do some extra credit or something. ]
This is one of those moments where it is good to remember that hundreds of people your age are currently shifting through garbage piles trying to find their next meal.
In each case, you need to speak to your teacher.
Ask your science teacher if there is something you can for extra credit, or to make up some of your grade.
Ask your coach what you can do to improve, and for a bit of extra help and suggestions. ]
With your science quiz go to your teacher and ask to make up the quiz and try a second job. If your teacher tells you know ask if there is any kind of extra credit you could do to fix your grade. As far as the lacrosse team praticing every single day with your team mates who know what they are doing wold help you out. ]
