If you want to lose weight you need to do it in healthy way don't go on a crash diet that can make you really sick and can cause serious eating disorders. you should talk to your doctor and he will tell you what the best way for you to lose weight based on your heighth and age. you can also find a body mass index calcualater online. you need to cut down on what you eat, you need to lose weight slowly if you lose it fast it will just come back if you lose it slow you will keep the weight off. you also need to exercise at leat 3 times a week and you need drink penty of water I hoped i've helped. Love your self, for who you are, embrace your body, and the way it looks. If you do decide to get plastic surgery anyway, look up all of the defcts of it and see if you still want to. He will put people into your life that will not care the least about a few extra pounds. Do not let Hollywood ruin your self image. Those people represent less than 1% of the population yet everyone spends millions trying to look like them. And fail. ex. Michael Jackson, Joan Rivers, etc. [ dshannon420's advice column | Ask dshannon420 A Question ]
Xui answered Sunday April 3 2011, 3:16 pm: All the columnist nailed it but I just have one little something to add; Liposuction is exactly how my Uncle died 2 years ago.
He didn't just die on the table, He died of massive side effects due to infections and complications of the surgery and was in and out of rehab for over 6 months. I would highly rethink your choice, You are young and can still loose the weight simply by dieting and exercise. [ Xui's advice column | Ask Xui A Question ]
DearAbby92 answered Sunday April 3 2011, 11:32 am: I know you feel hopeless right now, and just want the weight off ASAP. But I'm afraid liposuction isn't the answer.
First off, finding a doctor who will operate on a sixteen year old may be hard.
There is also a limited amount of fat that the surgeon can remove per surgery. Taking out too much puts you at risk for complications. The doctor won't be able to remove 30lbs of fat from you through liposuction.
You can also gain the weight back after liposuction. If you continue unhealthy eating and exercise patterns, you will have wasted thousands of dollars and be right back where you started.
I know you don't want to hear this, but you need to do it the old fashioned way. Diet and exercise. It seems impossible, but people who are morbidly obese have lost HUNDREDS of pounds on their own! You only need to lose thirty!
Perhaps you should take the money you would spend on plastic surgery and invest in a personal trainer or a nutritionist.
You don't have to work out like a mad woman or starve yourself to get there. You are young, the weight will come off more easily now then it will in say ten years, so I suggest you get into a healthy lifestyle as soon as possible.
Start slow, like cutting out a junk food every week and replacing it with a healthier food, like chips for apples. Add a little bit of exercise EVERY day. Go for a walk around your neighborhood or dance to your favorite songs. Exercise releases endorphins which put you in a good mood, so you will feel better almost immediately!
As you start to feel better, add more activity and make healthier choices.
There are lots of free online resources that can help you. Seventeen.com has a fitness section thats all about teen girls with food and exercises.
A lot of nutritionists will have you keep a food journal. Write down EVERYTHING that goes into your mouth. It will help you see what you are doing wrong and what you are doing right.
Portion sizes are often too big in America, so pay attention to HOW much you are eating. The big dinner plates we typically eat off of? You should really be eating off the smaller snack size plates. A serving of chicken or meat should be the size of your hand balled up in a fist. A veggie portion should be a little smaller than that.
Don't eat when you are bored, and sit at the table and chew slowly. Often when we are on the go, we just shove food down our throats and don't realize how much we are eating.
Walk to places you would normally drive too if it isn't too far. Walk around the mall. Just get moving!
adviceman49 answered Sunday April 3 2011, 11:32 am: Hi; I'm old enough to be you grandfather and I'm hoping that the wisdom that comes with age will be helpful to you.
While I can't be of any help in finding a doctor that will take payments; I am going to voice my concern about a Plastic Surgeon who will do body sculpting on a 16 year old.
Most if not all Board Certified Plastic Surgeons refrain from doing almost all procedures on anyone under 18 and at times even under 21 depending on the procedure and whether or not the patients growth plates are closed. There are many good reasons for this and any good Plastic Surgeon will explain this to you.
When looking for any Surgeon or specialist you want to look for a doctor that is Board Certified in that specialty. The reason is that in many states a doctor can say they are a specialist in a particular specialty as long as they did a residency in that specialty. A board Certified Specialist has done a Fellowship and passed written and practical exams by the boards college of Cardinal in order to receive certification. These are the doctors who are the best at what they do.
Now why will a good surgeon not operate on you. First:Liposuction is not a replacement for diet and exercise. Liposuction is for body sculpting after diet and exercise to remove certain fats that exercise won't remove. Second: At 16 your body is still changing. To surgically change a body that is still changing itself is wrong except in the case of medical necessity or emergency do to trauma. Third: In your case proper diet and exercise will work better than liposuction.
My advice is: Take the money you would spend on Plastic Surgery and use it to hire a Physical Trainer, who will work on a pay as you go basis. Consult with a nutritionist, who may be covered by your insurance plan, on proper dieting
and diet. Most importantly while dieting be monitored by your family doctor.
There is an old saying about things that come easy. Anything that comes is generally doesn't last. This is very true about liposuction. If you don't exercise and eat properly you will have wasted you money for the wait will return.
My feeling is if you follow my advice it may take longer to loose the weight, but it will be a permanent weight lose rather than temporary weight loss and you will have learned how to eat and exercise properly to remain at your proper weight. To me this is a win/win situation [ adviceman49's advice column | Ask adviceman49 A Question ]
NinjaNeer answered Sunday April 3 2011, 11:22 am: If you really want to get liposuction, look up a video of it being done as well as finding out what all the side effects are. That's what turned me off of the whole idea. Once you're thoroughly grossed out and too scared to have someone jam a huge needle repeatedly into your stomach, it's time to try a more logical, permanent solution.
Number one: save that money and put it towards counselling. I mean it. And hey, it costs a lot less than liposuction. 30 lbs overweight isn't THAT bad. It's certainly not bad enough that you should wish you would die. It is possible to love yourself at any weight. I should know: I used to weigh 100 lbs more than you! In fact, your weight is my goal weight (I'm 5'8"). If you're hating yourself because of your weight, there are some serious self esteem issues at play.
I have 80 lbs to go. I know people who are trying to lose 10, 20, 30, 100, 200, 300 lbs. Do you know what we all have in common? We're doing it through proper diet and exercise.
Find a calorie tracker that you like using. MyFitnessPal is the one I use, but SparkPeople also does the same thing. Both are free. You sign up, make a profile, put in your goals and it tells you how much you need to eat to make it to those goals. The only catch: you're limited to losing it steadily at a rate of up to 2 lbs a week. Why is this? Well, if you lose faster, it means that you're eating far too little. Your body will start holding on to every bit of energy you put into it and you'll stop losing weight. The moment you eat more than that low amount, you'll end up gaining all the weight you lost and more. I'm an expert on that... it's how I got to this point in the first place!
Start off by making good switches. Cut your salt intake (you can track it with the trackers). Drink lots of water and cut out pop (I lost 5 lbs of water weight the second day by doing this). Oatmeal instead of Pop Tarts. Veggies and dip instead of chips. Try balancing your diet using the guidelines the site gives you (carbs, fat and protein). Then cut back your portions if you need to, or exercise more to make up the surplus. Exercise doesn't mean "run 5 miles". It means anything you like to do. Exercise videos, going for a walk, swimming, dancing, etc. Find something fun that you can stick with. The online calorie trackers I told you about allow you to input all the food you've eaten and automatically calculates how many calories you've had. You can also input exercise, and it will tell you how many calories you've burned and apply that against what you've taken in. Don't be discouraged if you gain a bit at first when you start exercising. Building muscle makes you gain weight, but it makes you lose fat faster.
Surgery is not the way. Sure, it's fast, but the healing process isn't. You'd be bruised and miserable for ages after. If you were to gain weight, it would look lumpy and weird because those fat cells would be gone, so you'd gain it in other places. And you would gain weight, because you wouldn't have adjusted your eating habits at all. That's what got you to the weight you're at. If you lose weight with diet and exercise, you'll be "fit skinny", not "fat skinny". You'll be toned and most importantly, healthy! Celebrate each victory, scale and non-scale (like going down a pants size) and feel good because you're giving yourself a healthy foundation for the rest of your life.
