if you drink whisky and do herion will it kill you?

Question Posted Tuesday December 28 2010, 6:43 pm

I was told by a herion addict that if I ever tried herion do not drink whisky as it will cause your respertory system to shut down and you will die. Can anyone tell me if this is true?
See I was in a auto accident and my neck is in really bad shape. My vertebre in pushing into my spinal cord and it has it about 80% cut off. I am in pain every minute of my life. This insurance Co USAA Insurance Co. of the person that hit me will not get me the operation I need to correct the problem. its been over 2 years I have had to deal with this pain. I am thinking about ending my life. I cannot work I have no money I am staying with a friend (thank goodness he has a heart) but his wife does not like me and she could tell me any day to get out. I have no family to turn to. The operation I need cost over 100K thats the doctor part and the hospital. The person that hit me has a 300K policy but they are saying it was a previous injury and are fighting it. We went to a mediation dec 1st and they offered 5 thousand dollars, they said they were not ready and needed another 2-3 weeks to look at the MRI and compair it to a MRI i had done in Florida 3 years prior. My doctor says it is not the same injury. But they want their doctors to look at the MRI's and compair them. I am at the point I am ready to end my life. I hear poeple say its a cowards way out.My ass,it takes a lots of guts to end your life. I am sure God will understand my reason or at least I hope he will. I have a son he is 17 but he very seldom calls me and he didn't even call me to wish me a merry X-mas,I tried calling him but always got his voice mail.I feel he doesn't care about me at all. All I want is to get this operation so I can go on with my life, although I will be in a neck brace for 3 months and have no idea how I will support myself. Here is what my intentions are. I want to drink a good bit of whiskey and do what ever it is to make the herion injectable,a very large dose. Then I want to go into the headquarters of USAA and have the needle stuck in my arm and inject it in their main office. But first I want to contact the news media, date line,60 minutes, nightline, ect and also just before I walk into their office I want to call the local news media and tell them where it will happen and to be there asap to get the story as it happens. I want to expose this insurance company to the public for not fulfilling their financial obligation. If I don't have insurance on my automobile I get a ticket a fine and my drivers lisence is suspended, the ticket will say failure to maintain financial responsibility. But since they are a insurance co they don't have to do what they should have to do and get me the medical attention I deserve. Thank goodness they are located in San Antonio and not New York. I live in texas and I hope I can get a ride to San Antonio. I really hate whats going on in this world anyway. Our government is going to cause this country to go belly up. They protect the insurance companies. Between Insurance Co's, Drug co's, oil co's, and banks this country is going to fall to its knees. I don't want to be here when it happens as it will be very nasty and will set off a chain reaction world wide. I just want to go out peacefully. Does anyone know if whisky and herion will do the trick?????...Maybe just maybe if lots of people called this insurance company and gave them grief they might just do what they should do and get me the help I need to get through this ordeal. I am lost right now any don't know what to do. I just filed for disability but you know the routine they will denie me a few times and maybe in a year or two I might get it. I don't have a year or two. I am starving right this moment and close to being on the streets. I've been there many years ago and its not a nice place to be. I would rather be dead!!!!!

So you're saying that the insurance company the person responsible for the accident won't pay for your medical bills? You need to get an attorney and sue them as well as the driver.

Alright, let's talk this out.

Whiskey and heroin may or may not kill you--just like most suicide methods. Taking too much of anything, especially illegal substances, results in negative side effects. While you can cause the side effects to increase by taking another drug, it wouldn't end in a quick, painless death. You wouldn't just fall to the ground die. If you think about it, whiskey alone can result in death for many individuals. So, your answer is maybe. Just as if you were to ask, "If I drink whiskey will I die?" Maybe. It really depends on a lot of factors, including how much is consumed, your personal health level, your tolerance level, etc.

And, unfortunately, your plan probably wouldn't go as far as you would like. Even heroin addicts have some extreme effects after using. You're likely to feel a buzz within a few minutes after injection into the bloodstream. You probably would be so intoxicated from the initial whiskey consumption with the combined narcotic that you wouldn't recall where you were going anyway. Your goal would never be met--you would just be the guy who "partied too hard" one day if you actually did die from it. Nobody wants to go out like that.

And if anyone, absolutely anyone, witnessed you pass out from the injection, a quick call to 9-1-1 may save your life. When your body shuts down some pretty rough things can happen and you could suffer even more health complications then when you awoke, along with the immediate admission to the psychiatric ward for evaluation and observation.

So, let's throw out the suicide plan and move forward, shall we?

Your local Health & Human Resources Department (Social services; welfare department) can help you eat. I know for a fact, and there's absolutely no excuse to say they won't. If you don't work, you definitely qualify for foodstamps, and while you may feel that's kind of shameful to take right now, it does keep you fed for the month. You simply go in, fill out 10 minutes of paperwork, speak with a case worker, and they hand you an EBT that will have a set limit on it the very next day. Three or four months later you fill out another income form to prove you still qualify for the food card. The maximum allotment for one person is $200 per month, which is probably more than enough for a guy like yourself. $200 worth of food every month for just saying, "Hey...some help, please?" Some places also allow you some cash, too, but it varies based on state and you will need to ask your case worker for that. (For note, they now call "foodstamp" the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) ).

Health & Human Resources Departments in Texas:

In addition, health & human resources may be able to help you pay on some of your medical bills. I know they've helped my dad, who NOW has social security disability benefits. I know they help a lot of low-income and no-income people who need medical care, or have recently received it, and have no way of paying--I think it's based on your personal income so it varies how much they can help. It doesn't hurt to ask.

If you go to the ER in extreme pain, complaining that the pain just won't end, they have to do something. They, legally, cannot turn you away even if you can't for a penny of the treatment they administer. While they may or may not go through with a surgery, they would give you pain medication to help you reduce the symptoms--and many times they will let you put the first prescription directly on the hospital bill for you to pay when you pay for the bill. From there you can ask to speak with someone from the bill department, explain that you have no income, and they can get you help from their "hardships" funds to pay for or reduce your costs.

As for a place to stay, visit your local housing authority. Explain your situation: you're waiting for your disability case to go through, you're on low-income assistance with the Health & Human Resources Department, and you don't have a place to live. I've watched this happen with my own eyes (my aunts work for the housing authority in another location). They can get you into an apartment, free of rent and basic utilities paid for, if they have an open space for you. You fill out, again, 10 minutes of paperwork, talk with your case worker, and they typically move you right in the same day if they have something open. If nothing is open then you can give them a phone number where to reach you and as soon as something comes available they will contact you.

Texas Housing Authorities:

If possible, you could even buy a little prepaid telephone (I suggest NET10 for REALLY low fees) and throw the minimum time amount on it (usually $20, but when you buy a brand-new phone it is usually $30 for the phone with free 300 minutes on NET10). That way you have a way of them reaching you at all times. I've also heard that even the $14 NET10 phones come with free 300 minutes, even when not advertised, when you activate them (free "gift"). I believe this is the (basic) phone I purchased for $30 that came with the free 300 minutes, for sure:

As for getting rides to the above places, hitchhike if you have to. Ask your friend if they can run you downtown so you can see these offices and speak with someone. Tell them you're motivated to make changes, you appreciate the help they've given you, and you know it's time to move forward with life.

If you don't speak up then nobody will hear you. Reach out. Tell people you need help. Don't be afraid to say it. Asking for help is not degrading like everyone makes it sound. You need help and people are willing to help you. You just have to let them know.

Talk with the local Salvation Army, the local churches (many pastors will drive you to shelters, missions, etc. if you ask), shelters, missions, foodbanks, etc. Anything where they serve the public and provide free assistance is a place where you need to contact.

Suicide is, most definitely, not your answer. If you don't fight the system and stand up for yourself then nobody else will, unfortunately. Even if you went through with the plan you mention, it's likely that the TRUTH wouldn't really come out, and, if it did, it would be downplayed and forgotten about. If you keep fighting, they can't forget about you. If you keep on their tails, asking for help, then you keep the fight for what America SHOULD BE going.

The U.S. really is in for a big surprise. We both know it. There are hard times coming, but a lot of people who DO have their eyes open to the truth will be able to get through it. We need people in this world like you, who has open eyes to what the government has done to us. We need people who are fighters. We need people who know what's really going on with health-care. We need you around.

Don't give up hope. It's not too late. It isn't hopeless. I know how you feel and I know that you can make it through this if you keep up the good fight.

Keep your mind. Don't down the whiskey and inject the heroin. Live each day knowing that you are truly alive. You don't buy into the BS media. You know the truth and you have the power to spread it, educate others, and improve this situation--if you stay around.

I've been low myself, in many ways you describe. There will always be ups and downs. Remind yourself that this is just a down, and you have to bring yourself back up and change things around. Death doesn't get that done. Death is an end. You have so much to give, so much you can help with, and so much you offer from just being around. Stay in the game and keep pushing forward.

Speak out for help.
Push for it.
Demand it.

Don't let the government sweep you under the rug any more. You need help, you deserve it, and you're owed it.

I just want to start by saying your only mistake in this was listening to a heroin addict. Most of them are essentially dead inside from the drug and until rehabilitated can not think for themselves let alone another living, breathing human being. Please think for yourself and always with others in mind. I know right now must be so hard on you emotionally, physically and psychologically. My first word of advice to you will be to seek help for the psychological and emotional side of your situation. I know that there are many free and/or low income clinics all over the U.S. since I too have to utilize their services from time to time. You mentioned that you had a diagnosing physician reviewing your case parallel to the insurance company. He/She may be able to direct you to the appropriate resource or even prescribe some very low cost anti-depressants. I know that the physical pain is the main factor in this equation, however, psychological and physical conditions run hand in hand and both need to be treated equally and in your case aggressively. That being said, there are some "alternate" medicinal use drugs out there which are available to pretty much everyone. I am not condoning the use of illegal drugs, but have seen success with the use of such "herbal" remedies with many severe chronic pain patients in my medical career.
In regards to your lack of money/food/housing during this time of your life, may I suggest your local Red Cross, Salvation Army and food bank. I know it sounds horrible, but people in your type of situation are the reason so many people give to these charities. I for one was a volunteer with red cross and medical reserve corp during the hurricanes. Then just last March I lost my home to an electrical fire. The first ones to pop into my mind for help was the Red Cross and they came through for me by supplying temporary housing and food supply. I too had no family to help me, no friends in a new city and all my money literally burned away that day. I would also like to mention that all of your local charity organizations are happy to work together to assure your housing and dietary needs are met. Unlike the corporate gentleman you are unfortunately battling with, the charity volunteers have a heart and consideration for another humans well being.
I apologize for the length of my response, but your questions have seemed to have invoked a fire inside of me. In regards to your statement of walking into the company with a needle in your arm: I do agree that it would make a bold statement in the press. But wouldn't you rather defy the odds they have placed against you? Maybe you should still contact your news outlets you mentioned but instead of a needle, use a forked tongue! I believe the impact you could make over the period of 30 years of using only your passion for this situation would affect many more than lives than any other method. Never mind the government and it's minuscule control it is the few people like you who fight and overcome against all odds and inspire a nation of people. The people of a nation need leaders within their peers and I think you have been chosen to lead them and set the standard of expectation. Prove to them what the will of one man can do. Nothing will piss off those corporate f*#@s more!

**Stand up for what is right, even if you are standing alone**

Don't give up. I have been in pretty low places and am a recovering cutter and substance abuser, and I am still in my teens. I got to the point where I thought there was no other way out than ending my life because I thought no one cared about me, but I waited it out. I have been in your son's shoes as well, because a few years ago my dad was on the verge of dying from kidney failure, so I avoided contact with him because I was scared. Your son is probably scared to get attached to you out of fear that you will die. I know that I am just a stranger and someone you will never meet, but just believe me when I tell you that someone cares. Find something to live for. For example, I live for my friend who died this year during his senior year in high school. I live for him because he can no longer live for himself, and that wasn't by his own choice. Things will get better eventually, and this will only make you stronger in the end.

I promise. I care.
