Is 5'4" too tall to wear heels?

Question Posted Friday July 30 2010, 12:00 am

A girl that is 5'4-5'5 too tall to wear heels? In middle school I was taller than most guys and I think ever since then I think of myself as "too tall" to wear heels. Im going away to college and I wanna dress a little bit more girly and I think wearing heels will be a big step up!.. Thanks!!

You are already tall, but wearing high heels or not is your choice. If they are 4 inches plus, you will be taller than most guys in them, but that's find as long as YOU don't mind it.

That's actually kinda short. I'm sixteen and 5'8" and I wear heals occasionally, usually only to church or family parties. But nothing is wrong with adding an inch or two right?

I'm not a girl, but my sister is like 5'9" or 5'8" and she wears heels. So.. no. You're not too tall.

Not at all. 5'4/5'5's average height. Besides, even if you were tall, I don't think that's a reason not to wear heels - you should wear what you like and not be ashamed of your height!

No way!!! Girl , you go wear your heels , honestly it shouldn't matter how tall you are or how short you are in order to wear heels , you should go and dress up more girly and wear heels , it will show your feminism side, and i'm sure you will look great , a girl who's 5'4 , 5'5 that's perfect height for heels. Don't worry , do your stuff , i'm sure you'll be credited for it!

Not at all. I'm 5'8", and I wear them on a regular basis even though they make me look like a sasquatch. Then again, my fiance is 6'3", so I could walk around on stilts and still look short.

It's all in the company that you're with. If you have a lot of really short guy friends (most guys are over 5'8") then you might want to skip out on heels.

Also, keep in mind that wearing really high heels on a regular basis shortens your tendons and calf muscles and causes pain in the legs. So be careful with the frequency!

Hello.

I'm 5'4-5'5. 5'4 is the average height for American females. That being said I think the "average" woman has at least one pair of heels. My friend who is 5'7 wears heels and I think it looks lovely. Perhaps don't wear 3 inch heels though! 1-2 inch heels will look great and wedge heels look great with anything and are very comfortable. Congrats on going to college, I personally can't wait for it myself! :)

Take care!
