Hair dye?

Question Posted Thursday December 24 2009, 9:47 pm

Hey everyone. I was wondering if anyone knew what's a good hair dye that lasts up to 6 weeks, without fading alot. I wanted like a blue or purple, but I have dark hair. Some people reccommend manic panic ? But any answers would help, thanks :D

All unnatural veggie-based hair dye is going to fade immensely within a 6 week period, if its your first time doing it(sadly). If you have dark hair you'll have to bleach it. But don't worry, if you're hair is virgin,as in you you've never dyed your hair before/or your hair is natural, bleaching it won't be a big deal. After you do that you'll be left with this odd orangey-color.The brighter you want the color to show in your hair-the lighter you'll want your hair to be before you dye it(which might mean bleaching it more than just once). But since you only want purple or blue in your hair, this orangey color will be fine to dye over. Manic Panic is a good hair dye, but I find more people are fond of a brand called Special Effects. They have awesome colors that really stay! Check 'em out, and to make color stay longer, some people like to put a little bit of the dye in they're shampoo every once in awhile to give it a boost. Sorry if you already knew this or i told you some totally unnecessary stuff, but i hope i helped some :)! Good luck, happy dyeing, happy holidays!

Well for a start if you have dark hair you will have to BLEACH it first, putting anything like Manic Panic on your hair will not cover dark hair.
Bleaching should be done with great care as you can damage your hair.

Once bleached my recommendation would be La Riche Directions, i've tried alot of dyes and none have stayed in my hair as well as this one. Good luck.

i've heard splat works pretty well but you have to do it correctly or you could end up accidently bleaching your hair. I think they sell it at wallgreens or walmart.
Um go to hot topic if you want some temp. hair color. I personally used loreal one year to do pink streaks in my hair and it worked out great! I don't think they have purple or blue tho.

Hope I helped
