i have had my puppy dolphin for 5 years and she has made me itch only sometimes when she licks me but i figured it was just from eating grass outside. then i went on vacation for 4 days, come back, and she doesnt lick me but i still itch. she just sat in my lap and i got all red and blotchy! i am not allergic to dogs and there is no reason why i should be itchy! what the heck is the problem?
ask4help answered Sunday August 9 2009, 11:43 pm: allergies can develop over time so even if you werent allergic before you could have developed and allergy.. my boyfriend wasnt allergic to cats so he got one but 3 years later he started getting watery ice and hives when he touched his cat and he went to the doctors and they told him the same thing.. he had developed an allergy.
you could go get tested or just take medicine after you touch your dog and see if it helps.
xosodapopx3 answered Sunday August 9 2009, 10:53 pm: You are mostlikely allergic to whatever she touches. Watch her when she goes outside, is she rubbing into any specific bushes? Or trees? She could be rolling in the grass, or if you have woods around, she could be getting into poison ivy or poison oak.
Good Luck!
ps
Give her a bath asap and then see if the blotches keep appearing. [ xosodapopx3's advice column | Ask xosodapopx3 A Question ]

Also, if she plays in certain grasses outside they could be rubbing on you and then you could itch if you are allergic to the grass. Also, maybe she has some sort of bug that is causing it.
