Neighbours are disturbing!

Question Posted Friday July 31 2009, 11:48 pm

Well they're not my neighbours, they're my neighbour's neighbour; the house beside our neighbour.

They are SO loud and I'm trying to sleep but I can hear yelling (and they're family is just a normal family and the oldest kids are in high school) and it's driving me nuts! it's summer and I love the earth so I'm using my window but it’s SO loud. And when I shut it I can still hear them, which doesn’t help because it's suffocating in my room if the window isn't open.

They have loud music BLARING, it's almost 12 right now and I should have been asleep a long time ago but I can’t sleep and frankly, I'm getting bags under my eyes. My sister and I just have the urge to scream "SHUT UP!" out the window and duck but we'd be sinking to their level and disrupting the rest of their neighbourhood.

I am seriously thinking of walking to their place in my pajamas right now and yelling at them. What do I do? Oh, and ear plugs DON'T work! Like I get it's summer, but you got to think of everyone else around you when you're living in a NIEGHBOURHOOD.

I have the same problem!

Do you know these people? If you do try talking to them and ask them nicely to think of others. If not or if they continue after you do so, complain to your council about their noise and they should recieve a warning letter and it will be anonymous and they should quieten down after that.

Im guessing people already will hae complained and so futher action may be taken like an eviction. Hope I helped!! xx

Don't confront them. Call the cops, but not 911, the number used to report non-emergency type things [which varies for your area], and file a noise complaint.

You shouldn't have to deal with that.

Call the cops.

It's that simple.

Anything else is dangerous and rude. There is no reason to approach them personally. That's just asking for trouble.

The next time this happens, pick of the phone and call the police. The police can talk to them about an anonymous noise complaint, and if it keeps happening, they can be fined. Keep a document of when this happens, and keep calling the police each time.

I would tell your parents you are fed up with the loud neighbors and tell them to go over there and warn them to keep there big mouths shut! Afterall, It is ILLEGAL to have music so damn loud the neighbor can hear it also..After 12am IT IS DISTURBING THE PEACE therefore file a complaint with the police and sure enough I think they will get the point and shut up! As you have every right to have peace and quiet in your own house. Call the cops

im not sure where you live, but here in texas, it is ILLEGAL to be loud/disturb the peace after 10 pm. ask your parents what your state laws are and get it handled the mature way. it may seem crazy, but it will get them to be quiet and you will feel better when you sleep!

I understand exactly what you're going through. When I was living in NY, the girl who lived above us in our building was loud as fuck. She always argued with her boyfriend (and her room was right above mine). She always had parties, and she walked like a fucking elephant. Seriously she was so loud. There were honestly a ton of times where she had actually woken me with her arguing or her walking.

I never talked to her about it, but it really did piss me off. I used to yell to my ceiling and cuss and I would even bitch to my mom about it. My whole family hated her bullshit. But we never did anything about it. There were a ton of times where I considered calling the office and having her evicted, but I'm not that huge of a bitch.

Anyways, if you're considering going to their house and yelling at them, good luck. Lots of people are really very ignorant & will argue that since they own the house they can do as they please. If I were you, I'd honestly just call the cops on them. :) Cops are sure to shut down the party, and maybe it'll teach them a lesson. If you end up calling the cops & they keep on with what they're doing, keep calling the cops. Maybe they can eventually get fined or something. :)
