I was wondering: do you think I could have gotten pregnant!

Question Posted Monday July 20 2009, 12:22 am

Hello. I am a female and I'm 14. I met my boyfriend a year ago but we have been dating for 4 months. We recently started having sex--we love each other. We do it because we love each other not for pleasure. Well anyway, we had sex a couple days ago. This is what my question is about: He ejaculated in a condom, waited a litte while, cleaned his penis off with soap and water, and tried sex without a condom. BUT he did not ejaculate without the condom. In fact, I only let him in there for about 15-20 seconds. I was wondering what you thought the chances of me getting pregnant from that are. I finished my period about a week ago, maybe a little more. So, I shouldnt be ovulating for about 5 days to a week. IF there was any sperm, it would have died in me,right? i heard that they cant last more than 5 days inside the vagina. Also, my boyfriend says soap kills sperm. He is sure I am not pregnant-I'm just worried! Help!

"we had sex a couple days ago."

ANY TIME you have sex, there is a chance you can be pregnant. But, if you got your period after you had sex, then you're not pregnant.

Next time, be safe. Or stop having sex at such a young age.

you can get pregnant at anytime. you can even get pregnant when you are on your period. if he washed off his penis with soap and water before he placed it back in with out the condom chances are no. you really need to be careful though and stick with th condom. i was a mother at 15 and it was tough. now my son is 2 1/2 years old. i am sure you arent pregnant but remember there is such things as precum. guys dont even no they do it most of the time during sex.

Contrary to the below, penis in vagina does not in itself create a pregnancy.

Is it possible? Yes. He had an orgasm, the sperm was in contact with his skin, and you can't guarantee that the soap got every single sperm off.

Is the chance incredibly small? Yes. As you stated, you haven't ovulated yet. Your exposure to sperm was possible but unlikely. Its entirely possible that you aren't the least bit pregnant. The chances are probably like one in ten thousand that you are. A chance, but still a small one.

Chances are probably small that you are pregnant.
However, the simple truth of it is this. If a guy
puts his penis in a female, REGARDLESS of what type of birth control is used or not used...there is a chance of pregnancy. There is ALWAYS a chance of pregnancy.

It also does not matter how long the penis is in the vagina. "I'll just put it in for a minute" are probably the most common words uttered by males before impregnating a female.

Just the facts.

Soap does kill sperms, but not instantly. It takes about 10 to 15 seconds for the sperms to die completely. However, if he washed his penis, then all the sperms should have either got washed off by the water or died of the soap. There is nothing to worry there.

Now, with that out of the way, let's move on to your second concern: what are the chances that you might have gotten pregnant?

---For this time only, you have less than 2% chance of pregnancy (condom plus ovulation time, and when you two go "raw," it was a "second round" and only went on for 15 seconds [assuming that no pre-cum came out]).

HOWEVER, if you keep relying on condoms to protect you, you are BOUND TO GET PREGNANT ONE DAY.

================================================
ABOUT CONDOM
(you have learned too many myths about condoms, time to unlearn them.)

Condoms put you at about 3% to 14% risk of pregnancy, depending on whether you two are "typical users" or "perfect users." And since you are only 14, he should be around your age, too, so most likely you two do not know the perfect way to use the condom. Your chance of pregnancy is 12%.

Again, you have a 12% risk of pregnancy, if you use condom alone and it is a typical use ("perfect use" decreases the chance to 3%).

Condom is a good method is prevent STDs (Sexual Transmitted Diseases), but as far as "preventing pregnancy" goes, it's NOT among the bests.

Birth control pills (Oral contraceptive pills) put you at less than 2% risk of pregnancy at typical use. It's a better method.

Besides birth control pills, vaginal ring and contraceptive implants are also good methods taht decrease your risk of pregnancy to less than 1%. But they require you to visit a doctor so . . . maybe not (because you are just 14 years old).

Of course, there are other more effective birth control methods such as sterilization and IUD, but they are either high cost or have bad side effects, not to mention that they require you to see a doctor, which, you can't.

By the way, aren't you a little bit too young to have sex?

One question: Why didn't you use the condom the whole entire time?

Yes, there is a possibility of pregnancy cause you had unprotected sex. He may not of felt ejaculation, but he still could of, and you wouldn't know it.

Yet, if that was when he climaxed, then most of the semen discharged from that moment. I'd still risk chances of pregnancy. Always wear a condom.

Plus, you said two days ago. You didn't "get pregnant" yet. It takes a week to two weeks, and you won't know til the fifth week usually. You were out of your ovulation window, so that is better news, but still have a chance.

Be careful next time.
