Usually parents do not just let anyone stay in their house alone with their children. That takes serious trust, so I am not sure how much response you would get. But it wouldn't hurt. Even if you only get a couple of responses, that is a very good thing. It's called networking. Ask the parents of a child you babysit to tell all of their friends about you. That way you will get more customers.
You already received advice on what to put on the flier, so some of this may be repetitive, but I figured I would add it anyway:
- Put the flier on colorful paper to get people's attention.
- You will want to put your name and telephone number. Those are the two most important pieces of information you will have. Also add something like, call to set up an interview. That way they can get to know you, and will be more likely to call. This will also make you sound more professional.
- You might also put your age and qualifications. If you have taken any parenting classes, or have previously babysat, you may put you are experienced.
If they do happen to call, set up an interview with them. Let them know your qualifications, and maybe suggest to them that you could come over free of charge while they are present to see how you are with children. That should make the parents more comfortable.

Just make a simple flyer including the following:
- Your name and age
- Your contact details
- When you are available
- Your rates
