ok, so people get STD's when they have sex with someone who is STD positive. But, like, where does thaat person get the STD? You can say that if they were sexually active with someone in the past, that they could have contracted the disease from them. But what I'm saying is, everyone who has an STD couldn't have gotten it from having sex; there has to be a beginning to this. I was thinking that possibly a person can be a carrier of an STD, and not be affected by it. Hence my question, can one get an STD from having sex with a virgin?

Its not as likely, but it is possible. Some STDs can be transmitted to a baby during birth if the mother has an STD or certain STDs can be transmitted through saliva or blood. Not all STDs are only transmitted through sexual contact. [ elw5039's advice column | Ask elw5039 A Question ]
Michele answered Monday April 27 2009, 9:49 pm: There are three types of STD's. Bacterial, Viral and well, the live ones, like crabs, or lice.
Bacterial, STD's, if caught in time, can be cured easily with anti=biotics. When not caught in time, like syphilus, can cause brain damage and even death. Viral STD's like herpes, and HIV-AIDS, once you get them, you have them for life. The herpes virus lives in your system and can rear it's ugly head in times of stress, or as an alergic reaction to something you are eating, or taking. People can be carriers of any of these STD's and NOT have any symptoms, and yet still pass it on. Bacterial STD's like gonnoreah, and syphillus, will cause pain and inflammation. You'll know eventually for sure that something is wrong and you'll need to see a doctor to get anti-biotics. With Viral STD's, you could have caught one, but it may not appear right away.
When it comes to STD's (all of them) they are living organisms, they know what they like. They go where they will best survive. For example, you won't get gonnoreah in your chest or nasal cavities. Cause gonnoreah won't prosper there. They like the reproductive organs of both men and women. And you won't get a cold in your reproductive organs, because cold viruses are happier in your nose or chest.
Bacteria and viruses have been on this earth longer that humans, they always find a way to survive. Hope this helps and is not too confusing.

Darby answered Monday April 27 2009, 5:23 pm: Some STD's originated in primates; such as monkeys, baboons, apes, etc. Most STD's have been around nearly as long as civilization has, so there is no clear way of determining where exactly they came from. People that have STD's now got them from people who had them, who got them from other people who had them, who got them from other people that had them and on and on.
You can get an std from any from of sexual contact, so it is possible for someone to me an intercourse virgin and still get one. And even less popular, people can get some from toilet seats. STD's such as crabs. But it is very rare.
