Melody answered Sunday March 1 2009, 9:55 am: I don't hate Paris Hilton at all, but that does not mean I think she is a good role model.
A role model is someone a person looks up to and wants to act like. Young girls are very impressionable, so let's say one's role model is Paris Hilton. What will they think when they see her mug shot from being pulled over countless amounts of times for DUIs, driving with a suspended license, and reckless driving? What will they do when they hear about her lovely home video, "A Night In Paris"?
Well, logically they will think it's okay to go to clubs and become intoxicated, it's fine to drink and drive because Paris did it, and then they'll think, if Paris doesn't have to obey the law, then why should I? And heck, why not make a sex video too?
I know the media can make it hard for a celebrity to keep their noses clean, I mean heck, look at Vanessa Hudgens and Miley Cyrus, but I think Paris likes the attention, negative or positive.
Now if you want to look up to Paris for having good clothing taste, good make-up taste, and tips on cofidence, then by all means do it. No one can deny she's got those things. But I do not think young girls should want to be like Hilton in the least. [ Melody's advice column | Ask Melody A Question ]

How she constantly parties and blah blah blah. Well guess what, people who aren't famous party just as much! People just make it a big deal for her because she's famous.
And people who judge her for that are ignorant. From the good I've seen of her, she seems like a very caring person to me. I think her intentions are always in the right place.
Smartone answered Thursday February 26 2009, 11:56 am: Paris Hilton is an interesting character. She's funny, pretty and knows how to market herself.
That said, when you're a gazzilionaire, it's fairly easy to market yourself. If your only goal is to be funny and pretty, then she's an excellent role model. If you want to own a hotel chain, then I'd look elsewhere for a role model. She's inherited everything she has. Now, her sister, on the other hand, seems to me to be the better role model. At least she is trying to make a name for herself in the business world. She has a big advantage because she is a Hilton, but, she's a serious worker with a vision.
I haven't read Paris' book, so I don't know what she's telling her readers about confidence. She may be giving good advice, but I don't know. If you take her advice about confidence, you may succeed in that area. Keep in mind that it takes more than self confidence to advance in this world. It takes hard work, diligence, endurance, wisdom and knowledge. [ Smartone's advice column | Ask Smartone A Question ]
Trauma answered Thursday February 26 2009, 4:35 am: If you want my honest opinion, I would say that I really don't think she's a good role model. It's great that she tries to give advice on being confident, but anyone who pretty much parties for a living isn't a role model in my book. [ Trauma's advice column | Ask Trauma A Question ]
