Question Posted Saturday September 13 2008, 10:19 pm
why are people so upsessed with tanning..like my sister goes tanning everyday and it makes her look gross. like her skin looks like leather. and whenever i go to the mall i see girls that are like orange, and all dried out. I don't understand why people don't stay with their natural skin tone...and if they want a natural glow or a little more color why cant they just get a tinted mostiurizer...then you can skip the whole cancer thing? idk it just makes so sense to me at all, if anyone goes tanning or knows why people do these please explain it to me

heyimcaro answered Sunday September 14 2008, 4:04 pm: I tan about once a week. I do it simply because it makes my skin and ance look better. I have a really uneven skin tone around my face and chest, and when I'm tan, you can't tell as much. I do agree that the girls that have nasty leathery skin and have turned orange are taking it way too far. Tanning can make people look better, as I think it does for me, but it can definitely do the opposite as well. [ heyimcaro's advice column | Ask heyimcaro A Question ]
LOL_x0x answered Sunday September 14 2008, 3:24 pm: I think it's disgusting to go tanning. I would never do it, and I think it's good that you're not into it just because your sister and everybody else is.
Like somebody said below, girls are obsessing over it because of the media. They put images into our heads to try and show us what "beautiful" is. Honestly, though, I don't think anybody truly knows what real beauty is anymore.
I personally am proud of my pale skin, and don't plan on changing any time soon ;]
lalapeep answered Sunday September 14 2008, 12:47 pm: People are obsessed with tanning because of the media. Since all the celebrities are tan, they have to be tan as well and will do anything to achieve the look. I don't see anything wrong with tanning once in awhile but when you do it frequently, it becomes a little too much. Self tanners are a little more difficult, and they don't always come out good. I get frustrated with self tanners myself, because you have to apply it so precisely and it leaves streak marks. The problem is though is that it becomes an addiction. You do it once and you go, "oh it's not that bad." It becomes a constant habit and people don't realize it. I admire you for being so smart about it, keep it up. Hope I helped :] [ lalapeep's advice column | Ask lalapeep A Question ]

as for girls being "orange".. i guess they think they look better like that. you wouldnt continue doing it if you didnt think you looked good.
but i agree.. the orange skin tone is not a good look. Haha! [ 0hheybeebs's advice column | Ask 0hheybeebs A Question ]
