Texas Chainsaw Massacre (original).
Hellraiser.
Halloween.
Psycho.
Friday the 13th.
Carrie.
28 Days Later.
Nightmare on Elm Street.
Rosemary's Baby.
It. (Targets childhood fears, it's great.)
Saw.
The Silence of the Lambs.
Jaws. (It's always been a favorite of mine.)
The Exorcist.
The Hills Have Eyes.
The Birds.
House of 1000 Corpses (I liked it for some reason.)
The Devil's Rejects (sequel to House of 1000 Corpses)
A lot of people say Japanese horror movies are so much better than American horror movies.
So maybe check out:
One Missed Call. ((NOT NOT NOT the American version that recently came out.))
Ring (Ringu? The Ring. Just the Japanese version, supposed to be so much scarier.)
Xyla answered Wednesday August 13 2008, 6:15 pm: My suggestion is to go all out and buy those horribly scary movies. That's what sleepovers with your girls are all about :D Here are some suggestions:
The Haunting
Gothika
The Others
Saw (the first is the best)
Wrong Turn
Hostel

Some I'd suggest:
- Pulse.
- The Hitcher.
- The Exorcism of Emily Rose.
- The Exorcist.
- The Messengers.
- The Hills Have Eyes.
- Final Destination [1, 2,3,4 etc]
- Awake.
- Child's Play [1,2,3, etc]

Its old but good. I screamed so loud the neighbor 3 houses down called me and asked if i heard the scream. I jumped half way across the living room- no joke. Its only scary at one part though.
