the first time that i got my period was Christmas eve when i was eleven, and i was just like, "uh, woah, when did this decide to happen, eh?"
there were absolutely no signs the first time, but then after about a year, i started getting cramps,
i'm seventeen right now and i think that i've only ACTUALLY gotten moody and pms for the first time this summer.
usually the cramps start when your actual menstrual flow starts anyway, and you'll be able to tell if they're period cramps just because they'll be where you know your uterus is and it'll just feel like bad muscle cramps in your pelvic area. you'll know.
maybe you won't get moody at all, maybe you'll get really moody,
but once you've had it for a while, you'll be able to know when it's coming, or about the time when you should expect it, so you might just be able to notice that you're more irritable than usual and link it to the fact that you might be getting your period.

ha, good luck with this. it's the most inconvenient thing in the whole world.

Not all girls get cramps and mood swings. Other symptoms may include tenderness of the breasts and strange cravings. You may also feel tired. You could experience all of these, or none at all. It differs from girl to girl.

You probably won't be sure if the cramps and mood swings are from your period if you have not gotten your period yet. Once you do get them, however, you will be able to differentiate quite easily. Period cramps are pain in your lower stomach, around where your uterus is located. Once your cycle becomes regular you will be able to tell if your mood swings are caused by your period because they generally come a few days beforehand.

Hi!!!
well, everyone's periods are different I mean some girls get cramps, others don't... the truth is some girls do some don't... for those who don't they mostly use pantyliners so that way if they get a leak they're protected (or a bit protected) anyways don't worry... you will have your own signs, really don't sweat it, your body will tell you, and if not use pantyliners...
but it's not a big deal... believe me...
hope this helped
toodles
Aly~

You'll know. the cramping will feel like someone's grabbed hold of your uterus and twisted it. Some women feel fatigue, some feel bloating, constipation, etc.

If you're on the onset of puberty, keep a tampon or pad in your purse/backpack.

cheers,
