Okay, so I'm not a caffeine JUNKY, but lately I've been drinking around two cups of coffee per day, mainly to keep alert while studying. I don't want to depend on coffee to keep me awake...but of course, I don't want to be worn out by mid-afternoon. I am planning to start a basic workout routine, like doing yoga or going swimming, and I am sure it'll help keep me energized...for now, once I sit down at a desk, I feel kind of tired after a couple hours or so.
But anyway, I have a couple of questions:
>>A) How can I give up coffee/caffeine without feeling lethargic and tired?
B)Any ideas on other things (only natural) I can eat/drink that will keep me energized? I have heard that green tea is good- any ideas on that?
1. dancing to music
2. do some yoga like you already do
3. read a magazine or book or anything interested for that matter.
carbs usually give you energy, before track meets or any kind of sporting event its good to eat pasta or something good on carbs.
hopefully you can kick the coffee thing because im pretty much dependent on coffee and i get headaches when i dont drink it everyday. it sucks but its what i crave the first thing in the morning.

ElbowPuppet answered Wednesday July 2 2008, 12:07 pm: Gradually cut back on the amount of caffiene that you drink per day. During this period of time, try to eat foods that are high in protien such as red meats that will supply you with energy. Get as much sleep as you can until your body has adjusted to functioning without caffiene. Good luck [: [ ElbowPuppet's advice column | Ask ElbowPuppet A Question ]

I agree with the person below, that you should start drinking less and less, so that you give your body some time to get used to having less caffeine in your system. Give it time, this is a big change for your body. Coffee doesn't give you energy, it just speeds up your nervous system. My mom is a registered nurse and told me this one ;]

B. Fruits and vegetables! I'm not sure about green tea, though.
