It's summer.
I have about 2 months to lose as much weight as I can.
But I'm only 13 so I have absolutly NO idea how to.
I'll take any advice that I can get, but pleaseee help.
1. drink tons of water, also stop drinking carbonated beverages or high sugar drinks
2. if you are looking to snack, try eating an apple instead of chips/candy/junk food. it satisfies both thirst and hunger
but take note that fruits have calories too..so its all about eating in moderation.
3. i run about 2 miles a day, do some uphill biking, and different exercises for abs that i find online
4. always always always eat breakfast. it will keep you from picking and snacking so much during the day. breakfast gives you energy and boosts your metabolism for the day.

The best way to lose weight is to do it in a steady way. If you push yourself too hard it is likely to backfire, and often ends up messing your metabolism.
Here are some general diet tips:
- Eat many small meals every day. About one every 3- 4 hours.
- Keep your fat content fairly low, and make sure that most of the fat you do eat is unsaturated. That means cutting out as much animal fat (e.g. in fatty meat, dairy, etc) as possible.
- Intake a small amount of unsaturated fat daily, making sure you get some omega 3. This is found in things like oily fish, flax, walnuts, dark green leafy vegetables, etc. This helps weight loss as well as general health.
- Drink plenty of water
- Try to eat the slightly larger meals before periods of activity and slightly small ones when you are about to rest/ sleep. People often do this the other way around... then they underperform in their workout and add back much of what they lost with a big dinner.
- Base your meals around a lean protein source and eat moderate amounts of carbs. For example a meal might be something like skinless chicken breast/ fish/ lean beef/ etc, 50g of whole wheat pasta/ rice/ etc and some vegetables. Or in the morning it might be a bowl of oats in skimmilk and a few walnuts. You get the idea. The key here is eating moderately but still giving your body the fuel it needs.
- Limit or eliminate empty calories from things that have sugar added, junk foods, etc.
Here are some general workout tips:
- Cardio is very important. Try to work in regular, steady cardio a few times a week. How much depends on your current fitness level. If you are largely sedentary, start with light 20 minute sessions (e.g. biking, jogging, etc.).
- If you are able try to incorporate some resistance training into your workout routine. Resistance training helps maintain your muscle mass during periods of weight loss, essentially protecting your metabolism. You dont have to do this mind you, but it will help.
Remember, incorporate these changes slowly. You dont want to go straight into a hard diet and a killer workout routine. Patience is the name of the game I'm afraid (and believe me I speak from personal experience here).
