Why do people believe that 9/11 was a conspiracy and was pulled off by the government just because they watched well edited movies like Loose Change and Zeitgeist? Doesn't anyone realize the lies and half truths they are being fed? Why doesn't anyone do any of their own research?
Thanks, I just want some reasoning to this disturbing trend in America's youth.
Theres one. You can clearly see flashes that are consistent with the pattern of base charges on a controlled demolition. I can't seem to find the one where it looks like a primary charge blows out a series of windows early before the collapsing portion went as low as it was supposed to for the charge to go.
Re: I don't have the documentary anymore (it belonged to a friend) and I can't find anything on youtube, but I'll see if I can dig it up somewhere.
Why do people believe it was a conspiracy? Because we have been very obviously lied to.
Video footage of something the size of a missle hitting the pentagon exists. The government claims it was a plane.
Statements from Airmen who were piloting fighters meant specifically to deter arial threats exist saying that they were ordered away from their usual routes which would have put them in a position to prevent 9/11.
Video footage of a base charge blowing out the side of the building exists. In watching the floors collapse, you see windows blown out several stories below the collapsing rubble in exactly the manner usually associated with a controlled demolition.
When the pentagon was hit, nearly all the staff just happened to be on the opposite side of the building.
The list goes on, and while a conspiracy theory simply springs from the fact that the US government definitely knows more than its letting on about 9/11, we have as yet no definitive proof of who knew what and what was involved.
These are not lies or half truths. The story the press and the government fed us, these are the lies and half truths. And no, I'm not a conspiracy theorist. I'm a normal person whos seen enough seriously worrisome evidence to finally come around.
GilbertMar answered Monday May 19 2008, 1:18 pm: The answer to your question "in my opinion", is, there are many people who want to believe the worst in people. Most everyone thinks that they are the only person out there that are truly honest and everyone else is not.
Don't get me wrong, I live with my eyes open and I don't believe we have an honest government any more, we haven't had for many, many years. The system is corrupted and corrupts what is not. The parties know how to play the public, but really have no differences. They make the people believe they do, but they are simply just trying pit us against ourselves. They call it playing politics and why do you think they use the word "playing".
Our founding fathers did not trust government and felt when it became to big and powerful that it no longer served the people that we as people had the duty to over through that government and start over. As a people we need to start demanding that our government down size and give more back to its people. I have already said too much on this subject, I will not go on, I don't wish to attract the eye of any three letter agencies.
Was there conspiracy? I doubt it, but it would not be the first time that it at least appears to be a certain amount of ignoring of facts to serve a purpose.
You need also to look at it in another light. Before 911, they received many terroristic threats from inside and outside of our country and almost all of them did not hold water. Even our law here can't act until a crime has actually been committed, the question I ask you, is would you want them to? (We have already given the government the right to do so in the case of terror, what an opportunity for abuse.)
Should we go in and react to every threat and kill or lock up every one who makes a threat? Most threats are made in anger, few are actually carried out, (it is now possible to charge anyone in this country with "terroristic threats" and throw you in prison and you have never committed an actual crime), the best you could do back then was to go in and asses how likely they are to be carried out. How long of a time do you need to asses whether a threat is real? Is two days enough time to check on a vague message of terrorism? Which is the better way?
If the government had acted on this info and shut down our air space to find the perpetrators who may or may not have existed, could you imagine the hay day the press would have had with that and the impact that would have had on the country?
There is money in conspiracy theories, don't forget that. Learn to follow the money.
P.S. The one thing I would add, if you want to clean up our government, send them a message. Never vote for an incumbent, always vote for the new guy, the message will be loud and clear. If they want to make their living off of politics, they better start paying attention to the people. [ GilbertMar's advice column | Ask GilbertMar A Question ]
russianspy1234 answered Monday May 19 2008, 1:02 pm: there are half truths and lies on both. theres the side that belives that the government did it, and theres theres the side that believes that the government did everything in their power to prevent it, when most likely, neither is true. as the answer below shows, its likely they found out about it, and didnt stop it. whether that is due to incompatance or malice is a separate question.
and then there is the south park theory. the conspiracy is the government making people think there is a conspiracy, because thats better than people believing they are morons who accidentally let it happen [ russianspy1234's advice column | Ask russianspy1234 A Question ]
AskKay23 answered Monday May 19 2008, 9:57 am: I have researched this conspiracy, and I'm not asking for a debate. I understand your side, and I'm completely open-minded. But, I had to do this research for a oral presentation-- and I can tell you why American's believe that the Government may have been pulled off and/or previously had knowledge of 9/11.
1. George Bush was giving a briefing just a few days before our building were hit. The cover of the papers stating that Bin Laden was planning to high jack our planes and send them into the World Trade Center buildings on 9/11. George Bush didn't even read this.
2. The Bush administration also deducted the finances on terrorism just 2 weeks before the planes struck.
3. In fact, George Bush didn't even attend ONE terrorism meeting until after the attack took place.
Other things to consider:
What can America do with the invasion of Iraq?
Why didn't Bush react when first hearing of the tragedy?
Is it Iraq or Afghanistan?
Where are these weapons of mass destruction?
I learned in sociology, that many people under the age of 40 follow the news through Comedy's Centrals' John Stewart, and Steven Colbert. It's amazing how little actual news has become a source. But, American's like to look passed what's fed to them. Which yes, explains Loose Change, Zeitgeist.. and the other MANY 9/11 conspiracy movies.
I love seeing different takes on the opinions that are brought up in debate, or even in conversation. Like I said, I'm a very open-minded person, and I respect your opinion, but I too believe that the government had prior knowledge. Maybe they didn't run the show, but they worked backstage.
Please down lower my rating for only answer your question. I really do think it's interesting that you brought up this question.
