do i have a right to be affended? --spelling
Okay, so i'm Jewish but like I don't go to the temple or like anything. so my friends were talking about religion and had the Jewish religion all wrong so i cleared it up and they were like whats the Jewish bible called and i said i didn't know. and this other girl whos not Jewish goes oh..its called a Torah spellin..so anyway they go well your not a Jew your a fake Jew your no Jew JUNO get it like Jew NO. yeah, well i was just gonna shrug it off but my other friend blew up at them and told them to knock it of and i was like guys just stop but they won't. I'm not that affended but a lot of my family died in consintration camps and there making fun of me for being something that i can't help.
am i right to be a little mad over this?

ok it sounds like they were teasing you because you didnt know one of the most important things in your religion. which is kinda pathetic. i dont like it when people claim to be something but never attend mass/temple/service or don't really have a relationship with their god/gods because then it is fake. if they were teasing you because of your ignorance then no you shouldnt be offended but maybe embarrassed. go learn about your religion! lol

Are they making fun of you for being Jewish? Or were they making fun of your because they found out you didn't know something they thought you would?
Of course, neither is very nice of them, but there is no reason to be offended. Even if you were talking about say, bananas, you didn't know something everybody else thought you ought too know they would have teased you about that. It's immature and unfriendly sure, but it's not about your religion or identity.
Although it's very sad to have lost family memebers, and even worse to have lost them in such a painful and barbaric way, thier comments didn't really have anything to do with that.
No reason to get offended by childish teasing.

You know, I really don't think they were making fun of you for being Jewish, i think they are making fun of you for not knowing your own holy book. So, IF they had been making fun of you for being Jewish, yes, you have a right to be offended. (you should be proud of your heritage and your ancestors.) But they were'nt making fun of you for being Jewish, they were making fun of you for claiming to be Jewish but not knowing one of the simplest things about it. Which even you might admit was a bit absent-minded of you. Please be offended if they were making cracks at any of your ancestors who paid the ultimate sacrifice for their religion, but if I were you, I'd be a little ashamed of yourself for not even knowing basics like that. Learning a little would show some respect for both your faith as well as everybody who has given their life to keep it alive.

I will not say that you are not a Jew, but I will say that you are not a practicing Jew. What I mean by that is that you claim the religion, but do not know some of the major things (such as what the Jewish Bible is). You can be offended by this. However, I do think that you should reconsider what your religion is. I know that your family claims the Jewish religion, but I am not so sure if you really want to or not. I mean, from the sounds of it, I think your family is mostly Jews. I am not saying you are nto a Jew, but just think about it. I find that religion only creates problems, however I do mostly live by Cristianity religous rules, but not totally, so I won't claim Christianity. I guess the point is that you can be upset about it because you had family members murdered in the Holocoust, but I don't think it should be a huge personal offense

It sounds to me that they're not making fun of you because you're Jewish, they're making fun of you because they don't believe you are Jewish. There's a difference there, so I think you're getting offended for the wrong reason.
You should be offended that they are calling you a liar, which is what they are doing. Clearly, you are Jewish and you are telling the truth so they're being immature for calling you names like Juno just because they don't believe you are Jewish.
So I'd say be a little upset that they are calling you a liar, but remember that they aren't making fun of you for being Jewish. And then if you are a little upset for their behavior, remember they are just immature and aren't worth a second thought.
