SO YOU SHULD TRY TO DO THE SAME THING TO UR DAD. SHOW HIM WAT IS GOINT TO HAPEN IF HE DOESNT TAKE CARE OF HIM SELF. N HOW MUCH YOU CARE FOR HIM N YOU DNT WUNT THAT TO HAPPEN 2 HIM. SO GO FOR WUT DO U GOT 2 LOSE. DA ONLY THING THAT CULD HAPEN IS HE SCREAMING AT U. SO TRY IT. I TRIED IT. N IT WORKED OUT.

unfortunately, this is a habit that won't stop over night. it is not enough just to tell him these things, you have to encourage him to stop. show him how horrible it is. print out pictures, diagrams, do research etc. there is of course a chance that he will see this and still continue to drink. try to get family support also. if a few members of your fsmily work to get him help, i'm sure he can overcome it. but this isn't going to be easy. it might take months, days, even years until it stops. just never give up. you are doing a good thing, trying to help your father. and i know that if you stay strong and persistant, he'll get the help he needs and will be able to stop.

i really hope this works out =]]]]
i'm interested to hear about how it turns out =]

You can't make him stop.

You can tell him how you feel about it, but you can't make him stop.

He's an adult and he's made a choice. It's a horrible choice, but it's his to make.

If you suspect he is drinking drunk, call the cops and give them the plates on the car.
If he is treating you poorly while drunk, leave the room, or the house if you can.

You can't save him. You can't make him choose to save himself. You can only take care of yourself.

This situation is not in your control. Your father has already developed a habit, and it's not going to end tomorrow. What you need to provide for your dad is love, support, and encouragement. Encourage him to try to stay sober for 2 days, then 4 days, then 6 days, ect. If he is competitive, he will like this challenge. Tell him that if he doesn't drink for a week, then you will clean the entire house. This will show him that you truly do care. He is an adult, and he will make his own decisions. I know that you love him, but it will take him awhile to stay sober.
