I straighten my hair with a iron every morning because my hair is naturally curly and I can't anything with it. I've been Straightening it for almost a year. Now, my hair is dry, brittle, fried and i have split ends! I put hair stuff on it before i straighten it but it doesnt seem to work. Does anyone have any suggestions on what i should use to fix it or to put on it before i staighten it. Am i going to have to stop straightening my hair???

-You'll wanna cut off the split ends first. So print out a picture of a cool short hair cut and get your hair cut to match.
-Hair repair: (Haha, I just realized that rhymes!)What you'd want to do here is to find a really good shampoo and conditioner, preferably designed for dry and brittle hair. I've found Herbal Essences work quite well.
-You don't have to stop straightening your hair. I use Chi Iron Guard Spray before I straigten mine. I think it works very well, better than cream or whatever. Straigten less frequently, though. If you're not leaving the house, or you're only going to grandma's house, it's probably a good idea to hold off.
GhoulOnParade answered Monday January 21 2008, 11:51 pm: Well, about the split ends, you should get those trimmed off, because if you don't they'll just get worse.
As for the straightening, maybe stop straightening for a little while.
Use a really good conditioner and it should repair your hair.
Once you feel it's back to normal, and you want to straighten your hair, maybe just straighten it every other day.
Not every day.
Also, whenever I straighten my hair I first put in Redken Thickening Lotion and then Redken Smooth Down Heat Glide.
And they work great, for me and help protect my hair. Hope I helped! :] [ GhoulOnParade's advice column | Ask GhoulOnParade A Question ]

AquamarineRose answered Monday January 21 2008, 10:01 pm: I've been straightening my hair for 4ish years. Never have I had a problem with it and my hairdresser never ceases to be amazed that I straighten it at 400 degrees everyday. I also have extremely think, wavy hair. What am I trying to get at? Some peoples hair can take it and others really can't, especially every day. Gosh, for now, I would stop, cold turkey. You don't want your hair getting any worse. And trust me, it can. For the split ends, go to a professional and get those cut off, and then from there get a good conditioner and wait until your hair is strong and healthy before you go anywhere near it again with your flat iron. And in the future just limit how often you use it. It sounds like you don't like the fact that you have curly hair, but curly hair is way better than fried hair. Yeah? LM answered Monday January 21 2008, 9:50 pm: Cut your split ends. They're only going to get worse. I'd say yes, stop straightening your hair so much. Paul Mitchell Super Skinny is the best product for hair. I have curly hair [and it's wicked frizzy and curly and byah!goes everywhere.. you get the idea] and that serum makes my hair look reasonably good when it's curly: [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)
Or straight [look at my column picture] and it stays really straight too. Use a heat protecting spray like Tresemee too.
Try turning the temperature down a few notches, and only straightening your hair every other day. Or don't do your hair on days you won't be going anywhere. Whatever it takes to reduce the amount of heat you're exposing it to.
