God What would I be called if I believed in God (singular), but didn't recognize any sort of prophet or holy book?
Thanks.

I'd say definitely agnostic- I'm the same way. It's not something that has rules, being agnostic means you have your own personal guidlines on what you believe and don't believe in when it comes to religion/the bible (it's rules/stories). Some agnostics only believe in some things in the bible, others not at all. The only thing in common is that they believe in some type of divine almighty power.
hope I helped

I mean yeah... I looked at what other people said and you know it all sounded cool. My thing is, I am quite like you. I feel like the universe talks to me and teaches me the things I need to do. There is no specific group that I follow. I don't think any one prophet is like the one and only and there is only one path or anything. I feel like, you don't have to lable your self at all. People always want to stick you in a box. Like you gotta be this or that, and if you can't build that box for them then they can't function. I think that you should just be you, if people ask you, yeah I believe in a God. I don't know if it's your God or not but you know it's my God and it works for me. I don't have a religion, I just do me. :) That's what I say. Call your self what you feel. Truly though, it's spiritual...it doesn't even need words dude. Peace. ]
I've always called myself agnostic. I believe in God, or some higher power, but I don't read any sort of literature. I don't even go to church, I just believe that there is a God, of my own understanding. I call that agnostic, which means that you are willing to believe that there is a divine power, but I call myself agnostic even with my beliefs. You can call yourself whatever you want, it's your faith. ]
If you mean what you said, then the answer would be no religion; every religion has sacred texts, and most have prophets; you will not find a single exception. In that case you would be called Agnostic by most people; the more accurate term would be "Abrahamic monotheist" if you believe in the Christian God, and "Non-Abrahamic monotheist" if you don't.
If, however, you mean to say, "What is a religion that believes in a single God, but is not Jewish, Islamic, or Christian?", then the answer would be:
-Certain kinds of Hinduism
-Sikhism
-The Bahá'í Faith
The Bahá'í Faith believes in many prophets, but I think you would be most comfortable with them.
Sikhism is very different than Abrahamic religions, but it is closest to what you describe. ]
well, um that's difficult to say
i don't think that there is a specific name for that, the other person said monothesim, i guess that could be it
but, what religon are you? because that would help. ]
I think its called an Orthodox Christian, or simply Agnostic(<-- Meaning you believe in a higher power.)
Basically, you believe there is something out there that controls our lives and such. But you dont take into traditions as needed things to believe. ]
EDIT:
If you are actually looking for belief structures or faith community (you should say so in your question please) and you should probably look into Unitarian Universalism.

The idea that there is only one God, but without identifying with any one religion IS BROAD so yes, the answers you are receiving are equally broad. I gave you an accurate philosophic label. I can't tell you what your religion is.
Most dictionary definitions of religion include the use and belief in prophets or holy books. Once you cut those out of the equation, there is limited guidance we can offer.

Simply monotheism.
Monotheism is the belief that there is only one deity.
Wikipedia is always a good place to start:
