what is global warming and who believes in it? just a question i'm curious for an answer. and is the world going to be destroyed by global warming? and if global warming isn't real than what is really causing it? god?
Global warming as explained in "An Inconvenient Truth" is simply a myth. Al Gore and similar figures greatly exaggerate data, and almost all of the information in that movie is inaccurate speculation. It is true, the world is getting warmer. But that is a natural cycle of the world, to get warmer and colder over thousands of years. We've had many warming periods, and ice ages, over the history of the earth. We are not going to die, and animals are not going extinct because of "global warming" or "the climate crisis". Do not believe the propaganda. [ ilovelila's advice column | Ask ilovelila A Question ]
basically, we have trashed our earth. pollution, litter... for christ's sake, we managed to make a hole in the freaking ozone layer over australia. by the way, that is true- when i went to australia (it was winter there), i could not go outside for more than 30 minutes without putting on sunscreen because i would sunburn (and we get tons of sun where i live so you can imagine). the sky is even bluer there, no lie. i don't think the world's going to be destroyed by it during our lifetime. it can definitely be stopped though. scientists estimate that before this century is over, polar bears will be extinct because their habitat is being destroyed. isn't that sad? LordHumperdink answered Thursday January 10 2008, 6:34 pm: Global warming is definitely a real event, and sea levels are going to rise, yet the cause for global warming is more of the issue.
The Earth has always had erratic climate cycles, yet the presence of humanity on earth has increased species loss (by several 1000%), and the emissions of carbon dioxide, methane, and other gases provide no benefits to the atmosphere either.
Basically, the debate is centered on whether its a natural process of events or if its actually humanities fault.
(the cause for the strange whether this year is la nina, by the way)
I believe that we should limit carbon emissions regardless of global warming, considering the burning of fossil fuels also emits dangerous heavy metals which cause further land degradation.
Global warming is happening, sea levels are rising, there will be issues with habitat loss, and all humanity can do is try to limit our impact on it, however large or small it may be.
duzzie19 answered Thursday January 10 2008, 6:34 pm: Global warming isn't something to be "believed in" or attributed to God. It is the real and present situation in which humans are negatively impacting the environment and our ecosystem with the "greenhouse" gases/ air pollution we are putting into the atmosphere. The "greenhouse effect" caused by the gases disallowing the solar energy to escape from the atmosphere, creating a sortof convectional oven similar to a greenhouse (hence the name). It's a science thing, not a religious one. For a better scientific explanation, check wikipedia. Will the world be destroyed? That's too simple a question. Our climate is obviously changing because of the way we live. The changing climate will alter natural habitats-- take, for example, the polar bears of the arctic pole, whose home is melting away every day. It is real, ane it's too bad the big man on the hill won't admit it.
cOws_in_yOur_tuba answered Thursday January 10 2008, 4:34 pm: Since I'm currently majoring in meteorology, I felt I should probably answer this question. :]Global warming is essentially an increase in the average temperature of the Earth's air temperature. Like younggrandma said, not a lot of scientists believe it's happening. However, even if it was, the earth wouldn't be destroyed in our lifetime. It's almost the same as people getting freaked out about the sun. Yeah, eventually it's gonna eat the earth, it's a dying star, but it's definitely NOT gonna happen in our lifetime. Some people do believe in global warming, though. For instance, I live in Pittsburgh, and the temperature yesterday was 72 degrees (the average is about 40). This kind of weather has caused many people to believe in global warming, but it is simply the Earth undergoing a change. It really makes no sense, especially since a week ago, it was 15 degrees. :] There are going to be times when it gets warmer than usual or cooler than usual, but there is really nothing to worry about. Hope that helped you. :] [ cOws_in_yOur_tuba's advice column | Ask cOws_in_yOur_tuba A Question ]

I don't believe there is a global warming problem.
We used to be covered with ice. All the weather
goes in cycles. It changes. Its natural. A few
years back we were going back to the ice age.
Don't let them scare you. Most scientists do
not agree with global warming. Ex political
candidates can always find someone to agree
with what they are saying as can others who
have noting better to do. :)
Here is a great place for more info on my point
of view.
