Please, only answer these questions if you really know about them. And just answer the question, don't try to persuade me into a different direction.
1. What are the best over-the-counter appetite suppressants?
2. What is better: Walking a mile, or doing 200 sit ups?
3. Can cigarettes really suppress your appetite?
Razhie answered Wednesday January 2 2008, 3:03 pm: 1.) None are the best. As other advisors have told you, they can put at risk for immediate heart problems, what these advisors didn't tell you is that if you are a teen, they might also stunt your hearts development, exposing you to extreme risks for the rest of your lifetime. As one other advisor mentioned, the very best over-the-counter ‘appetite suppressant’ is in fact water or juice, as most people eat when they are in fact not hungry, but thirty and will find the hunger passes if they drink more.
2.) Depends what you want. If you want to loose weight, walk, or if you can, take a light jog. If you want to tone your muscles, do sits ups. A combination of both will give the best results.
3.) Smoking is a stimulant, and makes your body work harder, for less oxygen, therefore burning more calories. Of course, it would be quicker, cheaper and far more effective to take a 30 minute light jog then to light up. Jogging also doesn’t cause cancer…
There really aren’t any short cut to weight loss that don’t put your health at risk. Just do whatever had to do, walk, run, tone, eat less junk, don’t eat when you aren’t hungry and if that fails you, consult a doctor. [ Razhie's advice column | Ask Razhie A Question ]
Klinque answered Wednesday January 2 2008, 2:22 pm: my only advice that i can really give is for question 3. i am overweight, and still trying new ways to lose weight my self....
as for smoking, if you are not a smoker right now, don't do it! it is an addiction that i am trying to quit now.
smoking is not really an appetite surpressant, alot of people associate boredom for hunger. when you smoke, your body is 'doing something' so it's not bored.
sweetie, don't smoke to lose weight. it's a matter of being over weight, or having cancer. seems like an easy choice when it's put that way.
next time you feel a little hungary, have a glass of water. 80% of all people are walking around dehydrated, and thirst can present itself like hunger.
AngelofMercy answered Wednesday January 2 2008, 1:26 pm: 1. dexatrim is a good over the counter pill. (Would I suggest it, no, because all diet pills have a tendency to make your heart rate go up, causing undue stress, one of my good friends died at the age of 26 because of phen-phen.)
2. A combination of both. A good work out routine is better. I like the exercise ball. Not only is it very productive, it is fun. I laugh all the time trying to balance on the ball.
3. I smoke, am still overweight. I have a double negative going for me. It doesn't suppress your appetite as much as people would like to claim. You just end up getting addicted to smoking and then still want to eat.
4. I know you asked for no persuasion methods, I am not trying to persuade you in any way, just use common sense first, sometimes, things aren't exactly as they seem to be. I would definitely keep a record of your heart beat if you are going to take any diet pills. If it gets to high, then stop taking them. If you are really wanting to take a diet pill, I would go to the doctor and get a check up and follow her advice above anyone elses. Who knows, an hour at the doctors office, could become the best decision you've ever made. Good Luck! [ AngelofMercy's advice column | Ask AngelofMercy A Question ]
orphans answered Wednesday January 2 2008, 1:14 pm: well doing 200 sit ups are better but you get tierd after 30 walking i dont know 3 miles wont make you half as tierd as doing 200 sit ups i think walking is better and cigarettes can suppress you appetite but they are very unheathy i would rather be 50 pounds over weaght than smoke you will have less health problems even if you are 100 pounds over weight than you would smoking, smoking can kill you right would you rather be fat or dead think about it good luck and i hope you make the right choce [ orphans's advice column | Ask orphans A Question ]
