xO_b_r_i_a_n_a_Ox answered Friday December 21 2007, 6:12 pm: dont worry about it my mom got it when she was like 11 but i just got it like a month ago haha and i'm 14. it's weird because even though the rest of your body seems to be going through puberty you still don't have your period. so yeah it's totally normal, you should be getting it sometime soon. avalonavalon answered Thursday December 20 2007, 11:27 pm: Don't panic now, everyone is different! It's totally normally to get your period sometime between 10 and 16, when it surpasses that, THEN you may want to contact a doctor. You're fine for now, don't worry about it, you're actually really lucky to be starting later than your friends. Seriously, periods suck, haha. Meghanbucher14 answered Thursday December 20 2007, 10:20 pm: periods are really different for every girl. my mom and both my grandmas didn't get theirs until they were 16, and my sister was 16 when she got hers. i was 14 when i got mine, so it's all different. i would enjoy the time you have without it because it becomes a nuisance once you get it :) [ Meghanbucher14's advice column | Ask Meghanbucher14 A Question ]
MAK answered Thursday December 20 2007, 10:18 pm: All of my female relatives got their periods at around the age of 12. I didn't get mine until my sixteenth birthday. And I was just like you. I felt soo left out, I even lied about having my period just to be "cool". Well, now that I have it, I suffer from major cramps (to the point where I'm lying in bed writhing in pain), and I constantly have to worry whether my pad or tampon is leaking and staining my jeans. Periods are not fun.
Often, when girls first get them, they feel like they became a woman (well, they really do, in a way) and they will kind of "show off" and be in your face about it and make you feel left out. I think everyone did it when they first got their periods. I know I did it, and you will probably too when you get your period.
You're at the age where most girls are first getting their periods, so you're very exposed the their "pride" about it. They tend to talk about periods more often, so the more you're exposed to them, the more you feel left out and the more you want your period. Most of these girls haven't had their periods for very long, and usually its by the next 6 months do they begin to hate their periods, and stop glory-fying it.
You're not missing out on anything. You will have you period for years to come, so enjoy the days when you don't have it.
~Maria, 16
Well, people complain about their periods for many reasons. I complain about mine, as I stated above, because I get horrible stomach cramps. I'm anemic (meaning I don't have enough iron in my blood, due to my period.) I have to go to the bathroom every two hours to change pads/tampons. And once it leaked and I ruined my jeans and it was one of my most embarrassing moments of my life. I had to miss several fun social events (sleepovers, parties, bat mitzvahs) due to my period. There's really a lot to complain about. [ MAK's advice column | Ask MAK A Question ]
MissKhalili answered Thursday December 20 2007, 8:29 pm: well usually your period depends on your weight.

arielle316 answered Thursday December 20 2007, 8:21 pm: i didnt get my period until i was 14 and a half. believe me, i thought there was something wrong with me... haha. but the fact is: everyone is different and develops at different rates, thats what makes us all unique. and be thankful you dont have your period yet honey, cuz its just annoying. im not sure exactly why you're eager to bleed every month and have to wear pads and shove tampons inside you every month for about 30 years, but hey, everyone does their own thing. im just joking, and just so you know, you cant feel tampons at all, they're comfortable. ( i hope i didnt scare you or anythin, but the longer you get to not have it the better) [ arielle316's advice column | Ask arielle316 A Question ]
