Hey,

It's perfectly alright to be depressed. No, Really! You just have to accept that to be happy in life, sadness comes along with it. You need to be happy and sad to have a balanced life.

From what you are saying, it sounds like you depend on your friends for happiness. You need to find an ambition or a private life of your own.

Try this once: Just for a few minutes, try to detach yourself from the things and people that make you happy. Can't imagine life being sane without them huh? Well that's where the problem is. You need to make sure you're not too attached to anything or anyone.

You need to find something to do with your life. Maybe a hobby or an ambition. What makes you happy? Is it fashion? Do some research and pick up 'tips' online. You can even learn to sew on your own and make your own clothes. Just an idea.

What's your ambition? Is it being a CEO? Research on popular and successful business people and start doing what they did.

Sometimes, it just helps to cry. There was a time in my life where I was so scared of the future or so scared of being unsuccessful, that I would cry and cry and cry. And you know what? I felt wayyyyy better. I knew things could be worse.

So do what you feel like. But never ever depend on anyone for happiness. I hope I helped. Feel free to e-mail me if you want to be more specific of your problem. I think I can help.

Personally, I don't think it sounds like you are depressed, or else why would you be happy when you are out and about?
You need to find things at home to be happy about so you are glad to be there.

I will try to answer your question, but keep in mind that I am not a mental health professional. However, I have studied a lot of psychology, so I hope I will be able to help you.

The word "depressed" is used too freely. True depression is more than just sadness. People who are really depressed are not able to be happy and loud with their friends. Many of them are too depressed to go out with their friends at all. People who suffer from depression have other symptoms as well. They often withdraw from families and friends and do not enjoy the activities they used to love. They find it very difficult, if not impossible, to cheer themselves up. Physical symptoms include changes in appetite and sleep habits, and/or unexplained fatigue or pains.

During the teenage years, it is perfectly normal to be sad sometimes. And when something is bothering you, it makes a lot of sense to feel upset a lot too. It seems like things hit you when you aren't busy with friends or other activities. If this is the case, try to keep busy as much as you can. Relax, but try not to just sit and allow yourself to dwell on the negatives. Although you need to think things through, there is a difference between that and dwelling on them.

Good luck, and if you ever want to talk leave me a message in my inbox. =]

Best wishes,
