whats the point?

Question Posted Thursday November 15 2007, 5:13 pm

Ok, dont think im crazy, or weird, but i have a problem. What do you think the point in life is???
I asked one of my friends, and they said to serve god. and i go to church and believe in god, but im not very religious (ok, well i am, just im 14, and to afraid to tell my parents i dont believe what they and the church (roman catholics) believe.)
I think i have an issue (like...mental, not LITTERALLY, but like depression ,or someting....my friends, even my bf said im bipolar, b/c i am happy, then all of a sudden depressed for no reason)

ANYWAYS, what do you think the point in life is?
thank you, and sorry this is a long Q. im just trying to explain myself!

The point of life is to affect someone else's.

I believe in God. I believe we're here for a reason. I believe that the reason is to change each other. I think we're all here to make someone's life a little bit better. He's trying to show us that there is good and that the one place you can find it is within yourself and others.

I may be too optimistic, but I think if we all just took a step back from our own little worlds, we could really see that all God wants is for us to be able to look back on our life and realize we made an impact in someone else's.

OK answered Saturday November 17 2007, 6:29 am:
Find a passion. Something that inspires you. What do you enjoy? What interests you? There is no one definate point in life, it's really up to the individual to see realise their own purpose. I can't tell you what the point of life is, you have to find your own unique purpose. My advice to you is don't take life too seriously, take time to notice the little things in life that make you happy and don't be afraid to dream! I have up's and down's too like you, don't let that get the best of you. There will always be something better, you know? Just relax.

Thief answered Saturday November 17 2007, 1:43 am:
I'm not exactly religious myself like all the other jesus freaks (that's what they call themselves) but i do believe there is one god, and one only god, and jesus. Everyone has their own take on life and it's point, for some, some people say to serve god, for other is to live life. I bleieve it's up to us to choose what life and it's point really is. Sure anyone could say that god wants us to do whatever. As long as it has god in a sentance poeple will listen, although that's not a right way to make people listen, more like brain washing, but that's just my opinion. The point of life i think is up to humanity to choose weither or not to live or kill eachother for stupid reasons, it's up to not just the organizations taht say what is life but the very fragment who says what is life, and i beleive with my heart that it's up to you, and you only. You choose what you're life and what you represent is all about, wiether to live or die for what you believe in. I found my reason what my life is all about and that's to live my life and serve god as best i can. Don't have to go to church every sunday and give money, if i live for myself and obey the 10 commandmends, be a good person then i should be fine. I don't fear what happens cause i know god will take care of me. Life is ment for us, the people to live, to live for what you do and grow to tell people what your life was about. Life is just a broader word for a over all generalazation of everything. what is life?, what is death? what is peace? could be anything we make of it, or nothing. Hope this helps and take care

Well, i am also a roman catholic so i won't speak on that subject but i think the meaning of life is to be happy and do what ever it takes for you to be happy. If you are not happy with your life try making a change. Don't do anything dangerously drastic but something productive. You said that sometimes your happy and then in an instant your mad. Well, i think you should take a step back and figure out why your happy during those times and expand on that. Do anything you can to make you feel good about your day and about you as a person.

(Summary as last paragraph of answer, incase you didn't want a long answer)
There are two ways to look at this. I've never really committed to which I think is right.
You can look at it in the light of happiness, which is to do with you. Or you can look at it in the light of the purpose of everything. That involves other people, and the world, and the environment and the universe, etc. Because the second way of looking at things is so vast, I've only really ever gotten down to what I think is right to do with respect to other people, and the environment that concerns me (I do my best not to pollute, and hope that me doing my bit is enough to keep everything else going - this is probably not enough, with so many other people polluting without thinking about it, but I haven't bothered myself about that).
So my way of looking at it is mostly the first way. The meaning of life is to do what makes you feel like you've done well. I like to make other people happy as much as I can, without putting myself out too much. As that makes me happy, I feel generally good about my life.
You should figure out what it is in life that would make you happy, within reason, and set it as your goal. There are things you've got to do along the way. Everyone ends up working, it's the only way things get done. But in the end, you enjoy yourself.
Some people call this hedonistic. You've got to be careful about the definition of enjoyment, because you can't do everything you want. There are costs to things. Costs to you, and costs to other people. There's also the enjoyment of knowing you please God.
The second way of looking at things I mentioned at the start is probably more a religiously orientated way. Because it takes into account everything, and God's desired outcomes for people. I suppose if you believe in God, then a lot of what you do, and your purpose should have to do with helping other people, and doing what you think God would want you to.
In short, I try to make what I do as good as I can in general for other people, and for future generations, and do something that I like to do along the way. Also, you can't let feeling like a tiny part of the world get to you. If everyone did, then every tiny little part of the whole world's population would feel like nothing, which makes no sense at all. You are small-scale, but important.

I hope somewhere in there were enough answers to you, but if there's anything else, just send me a private qn.
-K

Nobody can really anwser that question because really everbody has their own meaning of life but ill tell you what a wise man told me that the meaning of life is "to live life to the fullest and love every second of every minute to every day" and well thats ok everybody has their own beliefs and cultures but i believe that you are still young and you have the rest of your life to make your decicion of life but you know it would be really alot easier to talk to your family about it and tell them that your confused and for them to explain this to you GO from there and think to your self really hard and listen to your family.

well im a christian myself and I think God created us all with a desire deep in our heart to have a relationship with Him. It's not about religion and how you act. It's about your heart. I think if you talk to Jesus Christ everyday and learn about Him and let Him reveal Himself to you then you won't need anything else. The love and joy you feel from Jesus and God is amazing. You can only become this amazing person and Christ worshiper if you work with the holy spirit. If you want to learn more about my God my aim is StarryCloud28. All Im saying is I wouldn't trade all I've had to go through for any other life! that's pretty big I think. =] I hope you find your way!

many teens, if not all, think about things like that and wonder what life is all about and what the point of it is pretty much throughout all their teenage years. i dont know anyone that hasnt questioned life. the point of life is different for different people, and it takes a while to really find the purpose of your life. for me, right now anyways, life is about finding myself. i want to truely find out who i am and be able to show people that. i want to make friends, have fun, love, and truely make a difference. you will eventually find a meaning in life, i promise. you cant go out everyday and try to find it though, its something thats just going to come to you one day whether you realize it or not. so keep your head up, never give up, and try to enjoy life.

and if you think you might have some type of despression or something like that, you should seriously see a doctor because if you just leave it alone it could get worse eventually.

good luck and have fun.
