The condom is an effective barrier unless it breaks. A lot of condoms carry spermicidal lubricants as an extra measure. So if he wore a condom and it didn't break, you're safe.
As an extra measure, there are ways of tracking your fertility and figuring out when you're most likely to get pregnant. It's usually called the "Rhythm Method", though there are other names. By itself, it can reduce the likelihood of getting pregnant accidentally. It's much more effective when used with condoms, IUDs, birth control pills, etc. Figure out when you're ovulating and avoid intercourse during that time period.
