OH MY GOSH HELP ME!

Question Posted Monday October 29 2007, 12:14 am

okay. I'm kinda freaking out right now.
let me start from the top...
on sunday the 21st of october, i started birth control for the first time. [[ One week ago ]] the Nuva Ring. and i'm supposed to wait for 1 week before having sex.
well last night my boyfriend stayed the night.. and well, we couldn't help ourselves. lol. and we had sex about 10 hours before it would be 7 days. so i waited 6 days and 14 hours... but we did use a condom. THEN this morning we did it again, in the heat of the moment, I just figured it would be fine. it had been 7 days. so we didn't use a condom [[ we were out of them anyway ]]
but i'm really nervous about the whole thing. If I get pregnant, it'll ruin both of our lives. we're only 17. [[ i know, 17 year olds shouldn't have sex ]] i've heard all the lectures. just please help!!

Here are some statistics that will make you feel good and bad. There are only a few days a month you can get pregnant. Most people know this. It is approximately two weeks after your period. That's great news right? Not exactly. Sperm can live in the vagina for a long time. Usually only a few days, but sometimes up to a week or two, so you can get pregnant as a result of sex you had on your period.
Birth control in generally effective from the day you start taking it. I know this about the pill. I'm not familiar with the ring. They just put a time before you can start having sex to make sure it's as effective as possible to avoid law suits. In short, you could be, but you probably aren't. Factors that would matter would be whether he ejaculated inside or out. I've had plenty of scares myself. My girlfriend and I didn't always use as much protection as we should have, but she isn't pregnant. The best thing to do is stay calm, I would use protection for sure from here on out. If you doubt your ability to say no to your boyfriend if he doesn't have a condom, don't let him come over if he doesn't have one. I suggest using birth control and a condom. Really though, stay calm. Statistics say you aren't going to end up with a baby, and stress can delay your period or even cause you to skip a period. If you're really worried, take a pregnancy test 4 days to a week before your period should come. Good luck, and don't forget to practice safe sex. It's a lot easier and cheaper to change condoms than diapers.

Yes, you could be pregnant. It IS possible.

Using protection is great, but there are no garentees in life.

You likely are not pregnant, but, you could be.

Here is your REAL problem:
You think 17 year-olds shouldn't be having sex.
You are so nervous you are making yourself ill.
You are not really using your birthcontrol responsibly.

Do you want to know when you are ready to have sex? You are ready to have sex when you can look at the risks, like pregnancy and STI's and say "Yeah, but I'll take care of myself and I can be comfortable with those risks."

You are not taking care of yourself (not perfectly anyways) and you are not comfortable.

YOU aren't ready to have sex. Other seventeen year olds may be, you are not.

Rethink what you are doing before you get pregnant, not afterwards.

First of, calm down. =)
No matter the situation its always worse to freak out, trust me, i'm great at it.. its horrible! haha!
Anyway, I also tell you not to worry because i doubt it that you may be pregnant. Starting witht the time when you still had your period, i doubt that you did get pregnant considering that you were with your period and still had a a couple of days before ovulation happened again... and i'm also guessing that you used a condom that time as well...
And overall since you had been on the Nuva Ring for a week and also used a condom, there's double protection right there, you should be fine. and as for the next morning, i still think it should be ok.
Like the person below me said, birth control is never 100% effective... but it is 99% effective. At least you're taking that reponsability... =)
But you should be ok. To make sure you could go and try to take a pregnancy test in a couple of days.

Relax =)
Hope this helped

Is your question "do we think you will get pregnant?"
The only 100% way to be sure you wont get pregnant is to abstain, but im not going to lecture you about it.

Yes, there is a chance that you got pregnant. No birh control is 100%.
talk to your boyfriend, he needs to know whats going on.
wait a few days and then buy some pregnancy tests and test yourself ( in the morning).

If you are pregnant, make sure your bf is going to help you through this and DEFINATELY talk to your parents.

If not, always be careful and talk tou your doctor.

good luck!
