Question Posted Friday August 17 2007, 5:48 pm

i shaved my legs for the first time yesterday using venus breeze. is that a good thing to use? i hear some people can get bumps and all that stuff. i was taking a shower then just shaved off the hair.. im black, and my mom says the razors affect black people differently than whites so im hoping nothing bad happens to my legs... and is it weird to shave your arms? like can i use the venus breeze erazor to shave my arms and armpits? and will it look weird? cause its kinda embarassing that i'm a girl with the hair on my arm.. its darker than my skin and sticks out to anyone who's near enough to me to see. so help?

The Venus Breeze is a really good razor to use. And its perfectly fine to use on your armpitts...
most people will get some ingrown hair...don't worry about it!

I highly recomend using a shaving cream. I like the Skintimint gel. It keeps your skin feeling soft. And HELPS to protect aginst getting cuts and razor burn.

Don't shave everyday...that gives you a higher chance of razor burn, and cuts even if you use shaving cream. Shave when its a little longer than a BIT prickley.

I just thought I would tell you that when you shave your arms it will start to grow back darker and even MORE noticable. Ask a beauty stylist about what you can do about the appearance of the hair on your arms...I know they have creams that make it less noticable but you still have your hair on your arms. When My friend shaved her arms no one noticed at first but then even after it was shaved and not prickley you could see little tiny dot like things on her arms where the hair roots were and where the hair was going to come in after it was shaved. Plus....When people touch your arms they'll feel the prickles and it would feel like a buzzed head, like when you touch a guys after it was buzzed. ( if you know what i mean ) i really don't think you should shave your arms...

I had a friend that did that and now her hair looks worse...a lot of people thought it was weird that she did that.

hope i helped!

Well I use Venus Goddess which is practically the same thing, but has a diffrent name and it works pretty well and then within a month or two you have to change the blade.

About the race thing,I do know that it does happen to african-american people many have in-grown hairs, shaving doesn't work well considerably that explains why you probably know a good number of african-americans who DON'T shave their legs. I'm half black but I shave, EVERYDAY. I use the same razor as you but a diffrent name, VENUS GODDESS.

After that, consider on trying something other than shaving to get close. Use a hair deplitory, like nair it costs about $4 in drugstores. On a personal note, thats what I use for my arms, and legs, when I can't get a close shave. Nair is really great for those areas. And you won't have alot of ingrown hair do to razors and less stuble and on a side note: when you use nair and you wash the lotion off, use warm or hot water and wipe it off with an old face towel or cloth.

Bad to nair: IT STINKS BAD, BUT IT WORKS WONDERS.
HOPE I HELPED! :)

After you shave, use lotion that has oatmeal in it. That should help with keeping you bump free. Also, make sure you don't use a dull razors. They will cause you to get razor burn aka bumps. Its not weird to shave your arms. Super models, swimmers, wrestlers and lots of other people shave their arms.

I never heard anyone that had difficulty using Venus Breeze. All razors are different & people have different opinions about them. Just make sure that you shave while you're in the shower & that you use a lot of soap & water. You don't want your skin to get bumps & get irritated. It can be annoying & painful. It isn't weird to shave your arms. I know a lot of girls that do it, but it isn't necessary. Almost everyone has dark arm hair or at least some. You can shave your arms, but realize that it grows back darker & thicker, & once you shave them, you have to keep shaving them at least once a week or once every other week, depending on the person. It won't look weird though. Most people won't notice.

-hope that helped!♥

Hey!
Well I'm white, but I think that it's pretty standard, my friend is balck though and she does get bumps, however she started shaving with just soap and water, so she kind of screwwed herself over. If you take precautions you should be fine.
Yeah. it is weird to shave your arms. Just dont do it. You're screwing yourself over in the long run. my friend shaved her arms because she didnt like the amount of hair on them, and now she has dark black hairs (shes white) and bumps, and its just not a good idea. It is okay to shave your armpits though.
I think everyone has hair on their arms, but if you dont like it, when you get older you can get lazer hair removal and get it taken away for good, but dont be embarrassed by it. My friend was always laughed at for shaving her arms. My arm hair sticks out too, and its really blonde (like visible) but you just have to get use to it.
I dont know what the venus breeze is. But I think no matter what the package says, use shaving cream or gel. I recommend gillette. The purple one is super nice. It helps you to get a closer shave and prevents the chance of getting bumps and ingrown hairs. As far as razors go they're pretty much all the same. as long as it has three blades it should be fine. I hope that helps let me know if you need anything else. Love ya,
