Okay, I don`t play any sports & I`m not the most athletic person. My parents really want me to do something & so do I, but there`s nothing fun that I`d think I`d be interested in doing. So, is there anything else, like besides sports that I could do? (Acting classes, etc.)
leLovely answered Sunday July 22 2007, 2:59 am: Learn and instrument. Once you get the hang of it, it's really fun. I'm learning guitar right now, and it really makes me determined to play some of my favorite songs, so I don't quit.
If you're old enough, you can also get a job. Not only is it something that takes up your time after school, but you also get some extra cash. If you're not old enough, try babysitting.
Work out! Even if you're not interested in any of the sports, working out can relieve a lot of stress and it's good to be in shape. You actually feel happier because you're happier about yourself. It's a good way to let out anger, too! =) [ leLovely's advice column | Ask leLovely A Question ]
Teenagerr answered Saturday July 21 2007, 3:05 am: Hmm. I think something that i found fun was volunteering. Although I only did it because it's a requirement to graduate, I found it very enjoyable. I volunteered at a local hospital one day a week. I only did it for a school year + summer, and had over 100 hours of community service. Although it doesn't -sound- fun, I found it fun. Maybe it's because I don't mind hospitals and I love helping people, but yeah.
If you don't want to do anything like that, then just try some summer classes. Like you said, acting classes. Maybe try some other things too, like art classes, swimming lessons, etc.
If you don't want to do those either, then try getting a job. I suggest working where you can interact with others. That way, you'll be making money & have some fun. You didn't indicate how old you are, but if you're too young to get a job like that, then try babysitting. Either way, your parents will be happy with your decision and I'm sure you will be too.

solidadvice4teens answered Thursday July 19 2007, 10:25 pm: One of the better things you could do is enroll in a self-defense program you could go to multiple times a week. Those are skills both males and especially females need at your age and in this society.
It will build your confidence, respect for others, self-esteem and improve who you are as an individual as you're faced with constant challenges. It may even make you are more focused and determined student.
Now, if going this route I advise you not to take Karate or Kung Fu. Yes, they're great but they don't always teach you what to do if someone grabs you from behind and then knocks you down to overpower you.
You should look into Russian Martial Arts, Grappling and Jui-Jitsu. I personally think Brazilian jui-Jitsu and martial arts are the best programs out there.
If money is an issue right now drama, swimming, art lessons, drama are all very good ideas that boost self-confidence and are fun too. I think however, your parents would certainly like the idea of self-defense. [ solidadvice4teens's advice column | Ask solidadvice4teens A Question ]
xOalmaOx answered Thursday July 19 2007, 10:05 pm: You could take up dancing. It's both a sport and a fun thing you could do. Or gymnastics. You could also take up art classes, acting classes ( like you said,), & etc. [ xOalmaOx's advice column | Ask xOalmaOx A Question ]
