ductape_n_roses answered Thursday July 19 2007, 9:12 pm: Haha, you're like me =)
I'm the only vegetarian in my family, too.
I pretty much cook my own food.
Don't focus everything on tofu, though. Eat some beans =P Erm, yeah.
I don't know if these will appeal:
Slice the tofu up into a square about 1/4 inch thick, sprinkle salt over each and let it soak up the salt while you heat a THIN layer of oil in a pan. And you basically put the tofu in there in one layer, let it get crispy and golden. Then turn and wait for the other side to do so. & you can eat it with salad or something like that =)
I don't know too many tofu recipes. But allrecipes.com is an AMAZING site. Just search for recipes that call for tofu and you'll get a bunch of them =) Try using the advanced search on there. Type in tofu for the ingredients you want and check the box next to vegetarian. You'll get hundreds of recipes. =) If you have any more questions, I'm your vegetarian to go to =P [ ductape_n_roses's advice column | Ask ductape_n_roses A Question ]
orphans answered Thursday July 19 2007, 7:08 pm: you can do anything with tofu that you can do with other meats. it wont tase the same obviosely, but its an alternative. and with silicen tofu (the softer tofu) you can make caramel sauces, smoothies etc. like using it as a thickener in deserts or sauces.
