my period is HORRIBLE.

Question Posted Tuesday July 17 2007, 7:28 pm

hey. i'm 13 and i just started getting my period this year. just recently, my last few periods have been making me feel absolutely horrible. i feel as if i need to puke, my back always hurts, and i go to the bathroom alot more often then usual(i'm sorry, i know that's disgusting, but it might help?)
i was wondering if there's anything i can do on my own without going to a doctor, or if this is atleast normal.

please, please, please help me, i feel so sick.

Midol works wonders!! I highly recommend it. I get a lot of the same symptoms you do and it has been a gift from God! It works quickly too, thank God, because when mine comes on sometimes I'm in so much pain that I can't even walk.

Also, stay off the caffeine- studies have shown that this can make cramps worse.

And you could always try a little pepto bismal for the bathroom thing, might help some. A lot of women get that, so don't be embarrassed.

hope this helps. =)

i never got pain from my periods but my mom would get head aches, back aches, bloat, hunger swings, everything. your doctor will probably proscribe you some perscription pain meds but what worked for her was to just take an Advil Liquid Jel, it really took away her pains.

There is also another product which i am not personally familiar with but.. Midol is a medicine a lot of women take on their periods to lessen the pains. Go to your Safeway/WalGreens and ask the people who work at the pharmacy if they would recomend it.

I would go see a doctor, because the only way to lessen the flow of your period, as well as take away some of the pain, is to start taking birth control pills.

The downside of taking the pills is that you can gain up to 20 pounds as well... :(

I don't think that periods are meant to be that bad, so seeing a doctor about this is your best bet. They will give you a proper diagnosis that is most likely better than someone telling you how to make your period better on the internet.

I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help, but seeing a doctor is your best bet.

Best Regards,
Mariah
