Okay... well I'm not trying to get any religious views, or have anyone change my mind or anything like that... but I've always had a hard time figuring out what to believe in. I went to a Catholic school when I was younger [only cause it was right down my street though, haha] and neither of my parents are very religious... infact, they hardly are at all. But I never know what to believe. Like, I don't want to not believe in God... cause if there even is a "Hell" I don't want to go there and burn for all of eternity haha. Now, I don't really think there is [well I'm not even sure what to believe... there's so much I can learn about] but what if there is? I'll never know for sure. So basically, I'm just always worrying about things like that and I never know what to think =/ now don't like, try to call me stupid and naiive or anything, cause it's not my fault that there's 9857285 religons. Usually I just try to live my life being a good person... cause there's really no religon that looks donw upon that... That's what my mom always says anyway. "If there is a God or a whatever, as long as I spend my life being a good person, I'll be fine" So that's what I try to live by. [religon-wise]. What do you think?

FIRST thing.......ask God to forgive you of your sins. and ask jesus christ into your heart. now if you don't get the whole jesus God thing, ill explain it. God created us.
reason why there is sin, is beacuse eve ate off the tree of life. so now we have a choice, God or sin. back to God and jesus, jesus is God in the flesh. jesus died a cross about 2000 years or so ago, for our sins. simple as that. now the SECOND thing you need to get into heaven is......... you must get baptised in the name of jesus christ. this is your "second birth" free of sin, you got your ticket to heaven. then you read the bible, FOLLOW the bible, and contiue as a good person. i hope this helped you.
Indigo1208 answered Tuesday July 24 2007, 1:38 pm: I definitely agree with that....I guess in a way you can call me a spiritualist because I do believe that there is a being however many people call this being different things.
Your Mum is right as all religions, when stripped down to the fundamental message, are the same - be a good person, be good to one another and live a happy life. [ Indigo1208's advice column | Ask Indigo1208 A Question ]
juicers answered Monday July 23 2007, 1:38 pm: I am not trying to be mean, however, I am trying to be blunt and you may not like my response. You cannot just choose a religion. True belief in God comes from the heart. And, the whole living your life being a good person is a load of crap. The thing about being a person is that we all make mistakes, and no matter how good we think we are, we will never be good enough. If I've learned anything in my 15 years of life, its that a good heart is worth more than any religious title. Its about being passionate about being a good person and being passionate about loving God. All of the rest falls in place after you learn how to do that. rubytuesday answered Sunday July 15 2007, 8:55 pm: The 'just being a good person' philosophy is called secular humanism.
Try exploring different views and see if one fits you. Unless you believe all the dogma you don't have to decide this today- and worry that if you don't and heaven forbid, you should get hit by a bus tomorrow your sould would not go to heaven.
So take it easy. Take your time. See what's out there. If there's something that has your name on it- then great. If not, find something that does fit with your values and go with that. [ rubytuesday's advice column | Ask rubytuesday A Question ]
KellyHappy answered Sunday July 15 2007, 1:48 pm: alot of people wonder the same thing. i did for a really long time too. until i started talking to my boyfriend about it. he really made me realize alot. i made up my mind about wha ti belive, and i think it might be something you should hear.
::
the reason i didnt believe in God before, is because chirches and such misconstrew what religion is suppose to be about. Its suppose to be a series of beliefs and morals. values and practices set by a supernatural creator. not worshipping and giving money. (or molesting children, naught naught catholic priests XD) what i was told about religion, was totally different then what it really is. i was misinformed, not only by my parents and teachers but also by my friends. everyone kinda made it mandatory to believe in something. and thought of it as a personal attack on themselves if i didnt believe what they did. -cough you cough- and that turned me off of believing in God completly.
while reading books about different faiths, i came to the realization that different groups of people believe different thing ( i knew that already, but i came to a deeper understanding)
and i also talked to josh alot about the topic. he provided good evidence that there has to be a creator, like that if the big bang DID occur, where did teh matter that was banged together come from. also, how did it happen so perfectly that it formed life. stuff like that, he let me believe in my science and still be christian at teh same time basically.
i strongly believe in science, and i always will. but for those holes in my scientific theory, there are fillings in christianity, and for the holes in christianity, there are fillings from science.
so, all in all, i have decided that i DO believe in God. but i ALSO believe in science. i belive that God created teh elements and let them do the rest, and that God created organic material, and let it make life. so, i do believe in God. but i also believe in science. it was a comprimise to make. but it just makes more sense to me to believe in both.
thats what i think anyways. i guess it could make some sense to you.
cause i know that if you fear going to hell, then you do believe in some kind of divine power, but your just not sure.
so hope i helped
*to answer the other question*
no i havent really understood most of those stories. i just dont think they could actually happen. bushes dont burn and talk and stuff..
its more like god created everything, but he doesnt alter the way life will turn out. [ KellyHappy's advice column | Ask KellyHappy A Question ]
NoLies_JustLove answered Sunday July 15 2007, 12:09 am: I wonder the same thing all the time, actually. But I agree with what you're doing; it's great to just live life being respectful of others' beliefs and just trying to be a good person. Some religions, like Christianity, follow the principles of believing in certain things to get into heaven... but that doesn't mean that you have to necessarily believe in that to get into heaven. Like you, I was raised to believe that I should just be a good person and pick a religion to follow if I really wanted to, and just being a good person is fine with me because I don't really know what I believe in at this point in my life lol. I mean, there are plently of people out there that are religious and do good things for other people, but there are also people who claim to be "religious" but are just intolerant of others and are trying to force other people to believe what they believe religion-wise, if that makes sense, haha. What I'm saying is, everybody has different beliefs. Like you said, there are many, many religions, so maybe you'd be interested in researching and learning about different religion. I know some colleges offer courses about the origins of certain religions and stuff like that, so maybe when you get older and you're still interested you could look into that. So maybe look into it and see what you believe in, but there's nothing wrong with what you're doing right now; it's great that you're living your life as a good person. =) Sorry if I rambled; your question was really interesting to answer! LoveNJstyle answered Saturday July 14 2007, 11:54 pm: I have about the same situation as you... my mom is old fashioned catholic & my dad is not at all.
bascially you have to figure it out for yourself so believe what you think is true, not what you learn. as long as you live a moral life (& not steal, kill, do any "bad stuff" & repent when you do) you are good to go. find information and form you own beliefs. if you need anything else, let me know. <3 [ LoveNJstyle's advice column | Ask LoveNJstyle A Question ]
LiSaxOBaBii answered Saturday July 14 2007, 11:46 pm: It's alright to have beliefs, but there is no need to make them religious. To show I'm appreciative I basically think over what occured in my day to make me grateful and I'm hoping God takes hold of my thoughts because we all like to show others our appreciation, but maybe you don't need a religion, maybe a culture will do. I think the Jewish culture is beautiful and though I don't know anything about the Torah and don't plan to gain knowledge of it, peace is the focal point...
