They are really insecure People can tell them that they're pretty/thin or handsome/nice & they disagree & argue with you until you agree with them. They usually pick on people or make others feel bad about themselves so they can feel good. They always have to better & they don't try anything new out of fear.

They're annoying and generally insecure. They pick on people to make themselves feel better. They can't ever just sit and listen to people having a conversation, they have to butt in with a bigger/better story.

Usually they are negative about themselves. Sometimes it can be if a person walks with their head down and isn't social. They can have a shaky voice. Sometimes they are shy. [Not all shy people have low self-esteem though] It really depends. It's usually with skill and appearance. They usually don't believe in themselves and don't think they are good at things. Doubting abilities/skills. There's always some kind of fear... like rejection so they don't bother trying because they already think they will fail.

Some people hide it better than others.. so you can't really look at a person and say they have low self esteem.

Examples-

"That guy won't like me. I can't talk to him, he doesn't even know me. He doesn't even want me there anyway. See those girls surrounding him? I can't go up next to him now!"

"I can't apply for the job. I don't think I'm qualified enough."
