I've gotten my tongue pierced twice (but took it out about a month ago.)

You should talk to your piercer. Usually he/she will tell you everything there is to know about the process & taking care of it. Honestly, it didn't hurt nearly as bad as other piercings. I was told the same thing before I got my tongue pierced for the first time & I didn't believe those people. But because it's a muscle, the pain is surprisingly just a pinch that lasts for about 3-5 seconds. The healing process, on the other hand, is a pain. For the first 2-3 days, it's going to be difficult to eat & talk because your tongue will be swollen. It's probably just as easy as taking care of another piercing. But of course you will need to avoid a list of things within those weeks of healing. Again, your piercer should be able to provide you with that kind of information. All I can suggest is - research more on the internet, ask questions & make sure you go to a very nice place with real professionals. Don't have your friend's sister's friend's cousin who's 17 pierce your tongue. Good luck! Let me know how it goes.

It does not hurt.Well...I didn t hurt when I did...But I lied that it hurt as hell just for fun. Your tongue will swell for a while from three days to even one week, so you will drink a lot of soup.
Carefull with the Ice Cubes...you might wanna use them for the swelling...be carefull cause they might injure your teath.

If in any case you take it out...be carefull cause the hole tends to close almost imidiatelly. If you have nothing on the hole...it will be closed in about 4 hours.

Other than that...just brush your tongue a long with your teeth.

Your mouth will swell for the first three days.
Then it will go down. You have to keep it clean with listerine. And you need to twist it around also. If you have parental consent, when you go one of them must be present. After your tongue heals and you can change your ring, you should stick with plastic ones instead of metal one because metal ones can contain a toxin that can be harmful to your mouth. also, The tongue has this amazing power to heal itsself quickly, so if you take it out even after it heals for a day or so it can close up.

My sister got hers done and ive had afew friends who have gotten it done. They said it doesnt hurt much, so dont get to nervous about it. You have to wash your mouth out regularly with mouth disinfectant (listerine) and you will talk like you've bitten your tongue for about a week or 2. You shouldnt eat solid foods like meats and vegetables. Stick to soups and liquids. My sisters swallowed afew of her tongue rings but its not that bad. Ask the person whos peircing you what foods you can eat and how long you will have to eat them for until you can eat solids again. Washing your mouth out with listerine is a must and do it afew times a day otherwise it can become infected and quite nasty.
