but after puberty [about your age]
5'0" should be 100 lbs.
with 5 lbs. added per inch.
so at 5'5" you should be about 125-130.
but I would shoot for about 140. then lose more if you don't like how you look.
but if you don't mind how you look, seriously, lose 15 pounds. it's your body, & maybe you want a little meat on your bones.
just do it healthy. [ lolcool123's advice column | Ask lolcool123 A Question ]
infatuatedxxglamour answered Tuesday June 19 2007, 11:25 am: According to the approximate values of the Body Mass Index, or BMI chart, I used for kids/teens, your BMI is 30. That puts you above the 90th percentile, which means you are heavier than 90% of people your age and your height. This classifies you as overweight. The healthy weight range for your age and height is 95 to 140 pounds.
Most of that above, aside from the interpretations, is copied from here: [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)
Personally, I think for a 14-y/o that's 5'5" weighing 95 pounds is rediculous. However, if you have a small frame, that would be okay. I am not even 5'3" and 120 and have a flat stomach, but I have a large frame. If I were you, I'd aim to lose 40 pounds over the course of 1-2 years. Set goals for yourself: 5 pounds in 1-2 weeks, then another 5 pounds by the end of the month. At first, the weight comes off easily, but then it gets harder. In 2 months, aim to lose another 5 pounds, and maybe by the start of school a total of 20... just keep setting goals. Substitute a serving of vegetables to your daily meals instead of a snack. Look at calories; if a 300-calorie snack fills you up for hours and a 100-calorie pack doesn't fill you at all, go for the 300, because you'd end up eating much mroe than 300 in the end. Add an exercise regemin to your daily routine; dancing in your bedroom, going up and down stairs, or riding your bike around the neighborhood burns more calories than you'd think. Look in magazines like CosmoGIRL! for different exercise routines every issue.
The key to getting through this is to remember that you're beautiful, no matter what that number on the scale says. Losing weight will not make you prettier, but it will definitely make you healthier.

your body is 80% what you eat and 20% how you work out..
so working out is important.. but the main thing is what you eat..
eat things with very low fat calories/ grams of fat.. like 2.5g or less.. and the lower the calories the better too.. becaue if you eat less calories than you burn you loose weight... by all means do not starve yourself or let yourself go hungry becasue you will just screw up your metabolism and make it a lot harder for you to loose weight
but some good foods are like
smart start cereal.. i think its really good
and i like the quaker assorted frute instant oatmeals.. both of these would be great for breakfast w/ skim milk.. yogurt would be good too
eat lots of fruite and vegetables and lean protiens.. but basically don't be afraid to snack becasue that will just make your metabolism go faster and you will be able to burn your food.. and do not eat big meals.. so snack and little meals basically... and drink plenty of water. i find that some of the time i think im hungry i am actually thirsty.. but never eat until you are stuffed.. just eat until you are not hungry.. also try to stay away from all junk food..
but with exercise.. i dont know what you are interested in.. but running is always good and crunches.. anything that would push you and give you a sweat will work.. just try to do it for atleast 30 min a day every day.. and as you get to like it more try to push it up to an hour or two... hope i can help, let me know how things are going :) [ Laf16's advice column | Ask Laf16 A Question ]
peebles7 answered Tuesday June 19 2007, 9:58 am: I think that your healthy weight goal should be 135-145. That would be a healthy weight for you.
Since you are a little overweight, you definitely need to start doing cardio and eating better. I suggest either running or doing the tredmill or other machine at your local gym for 1 hour 5 days a week. You can also go for long walks, do jumping jacks, walk up and down stairs, and rent workout cardio videos or tae bo.
Every morning, try to eat a 200 calorie breakfast. If you like yogurt, get some light and fit. it has only 60 calories per serving and the peach flavor is soooo delicious :)
also, get some whole grain cereals and try to add fruit to them when you eat them.
If you can, eat salads for lunch most of the time, but use a salad dressing that isn't creamy because those have a lot more calories.
at dinner, eat what your family normally would, but take small portions and don't get seconds.
sml111992 answered Tuesday June 19 2007, 9:55 am: ok at your age and hieght you should be like 130 ish im 14/f and 5'7 and 130 what you should do is change your eating habits its summer now and not being in school has the more temtation to eat alot. in the morning istead of waffles and cearal have half a bagel or oat meal special K cearal or rasion brand. in the afternoon dont over load your sandwich with mayo. instead of a yogort or salad. and for a snack have an apple or fruit. for dinner dont go for seconds. dont eat the skin off of the turkey or chicken. have more salad then seconds. and for excersizing start of by walking for an hour one week and then when your done walking do 50 crunches and then next week start jogging and doing 52 crunches and remember drink A LOT OF WATER! hope i helped but if Cosmo girl has a wonderful colum all the time on how to loose weight and start getting healthy! so buy that. Well the whole average weight should be 125 lbs for your height.
5 ft is 100 lbs and every inch counts for 5 lbs. So yeah when i found out i was somewhat upset.
So end of my 8th grade year, during summer, i cut down all the junk food. I literally had no chips, cookies, chocolate, and even soda which i was soooo hooked on to.
Also i started exercising 30 minutes everyday.
I did pilate videos and dvds. Pilates help you burn fat and tone you up so you won't get that manly muscle and all that.
So i just kept exercising regularly, and my lowest weight was 131 lbs and i grew 2 inches over the years. But i always go up and down in weight like crazy because sometimes i am too busy to exercise and now i sprained my ankle. But the point is, you keep on trying and you will reach your goal!
