Underwires?
This question is for the girls out there... My stepmom says that bras with underwires are really bad for you. Does anyone know why?

bras are to lift up your boobs and make them look nice

well it can only really be bad for you if it doesn't fit propperly and bluss it's may depend on the bra but if you sleep in bras it icreases your chances of getting breast cancer so that may also be why she thinks there bad.

The wires tend to press into the breast, blocking off circulation, causing sensitive lumps to form. Although these lumps aren't bad, and healthy breasts may sometime have them, they are very uncomfortable and, well, hurt.

Underwires aren't bad for you. If they don't fit properly they can be uncomfortable, but they aren't going to do any permanent damage. Women with larger breasts often find underwire bras more comfortable, because they give more support. I like them for that reason, and also because I like the shape they give me.

You should go and get yourself measured and fitted correctly so that you are sure you are wearing the correct size bra. The wires should be against your ribs at the sides and fitting comfortably under the breast if you are wearing the right size. The bra should also be a smooth fit from material to skin, with no bulge at the top.

I don't think they're bad. Maybe what she means is that the wires might make you feel uncomfortable. I really can't think of anything else bad bout it.
The wires are good cos they provide support. But then, they can be dangerous if they're not sewn in properly. There was once my underwire poked out thru the bra cloth and kept poking my chest.

The only thing that could be bad is if you'd think it's uncomfortable. Other than that nothing.
