DDR burning calories

Question Posted Friday June 1 2007, 2:01 pm

I'm talking about the home version game Dance Dance Revolution Extreme 2. I know that it is a great way to exercise because you are definitely moving a lot. Now, on the workout program, you input your weight, dance to a song, and then they tell you about how many kCals you burned. Now, here is my question: If I eat popcorn and consume 200 calories, then go burn 200 kCals on DDR, did I burn off that popcorn? Now I know that its just an estimate but roughly, is that about correct? Or is kCal a different amount than Calories? I tried to look it up on google but I didn't understand anything.

Thank you!

ATTENTION: The popcorn is just a hypothetical situation to help you understand what I mean. I just want to know if 1 kcal burned equals one Calorie consumed from food eaten =).

Calorie with a capital C, such as Calories listed on foods are technically kilocalories (kCal's). A calorie with a lower case c is 1000 times smaller than a kilocalorie. Measuring things in Calories makes it easier so you're not dealing with so many 0's. So, yes you would have burned off the popcorn. The game isn't going to be 100% accurate though of course in determining how many Calories you burned.

If you're trying to lose weight, don't eat the popcorn in the first place. It's not so easy as just burning off the junk food that you eat. You're trying to burn off the fat that's already there. If you just burn off the extra Calories you eat (that isn't used for energy), it does no good for you. Try to eat healthier and cut on the snacking and you should see results if you spend a lot of time on DDR. Just be patient. Contrary to common belief it can take a long time to lose weight if you're doing it the correct way. :)

yes, you probably did burn off that popcorn.

working out for a half n hour a day and getting your heart pumping for that half hour straight, you're in good hands.

i dont know but DDR isnt really all that correct. you could have stepped off the matt or something. gyms are more adequate. DDR are just estimating to make it sound like your doing soo well and losing soo much weight. but dont base yourself on playing DDR whenever you want lovey. because then you realy wouldnt lose a whole lot

hope that helped! if u have any more question just ask me whenever on whatever. tell others too =) [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)
