Question Posted Thursday May 24 2007, 7:44 pm

What are some good ska bands? Ones that, by listening to, i could get the idea of what exactly ska is.

Also, does reel big fish count as ska?

operation ivy is a pretty good ska band.
my favorite song by them is probably Knowledge.
Green Day does a better cover of it though.

i'm not an expert or anything, but some of my favorite ska is the old gwen stefani stuff (no doubt) and save ferris. reel big fish is ska, but i don't really listen to them. if you have itunes, you can probably search by genre and listen to the 30 second clips to see if you like any other ska bands. also, you can search for cds on amazon.com and a lot of the times it has a 30 second sample.

Reel Big Fish is new ska. They're Kinda lame though.
Try out a band like THE TOASTERS, They're awesome!
Look up Tim Armstrong, He Just came out with an all ska album.
Also, The Slackers, The Specials, Operation Ivy (punk/ska), King Django, Desmond Dekker, Inspector 7, Hub City Stompers, The Rudie Crew.. Etc. Etc. Etc.

If you need anymore, just ask.
